Emob78: I suppose next we'll have to look out for scary circle face man!
Do you mean this guy? I would definitely play that game.

Emob78: Or maybe they'll go all meta on us and give us fractal monsters.
Now you got me drooling...

Crewdroog: It seems Borderlands the Prequel is suffering the same fate. That's too bad. I was hoping to enjoy both of them relatively soon. well, now I will probably be waiting for a huge sale in the distant future.

snowkatt: considering the stunt gearbox pulled with sega id be either wary of their products or just avoid them all together

not that i liked borderlands much in the first place

it didnt do much for me
I can see not liking borderlands 1, but the second is awesome.

Oh, the whole aliens debacle? I often forget about that and that Gearbox was involved. Honestly, I was probably not going to buy Bprequel until waay later b/c of the horrible DLC dumping they always do and wait till GOTY or an insane sale. This just further cements it. Thanks for the reminder :)

"extremely mixed" interesting choice of words.
Well, chapter 3 on Ps4.

- Great atmosphere;
- Good scary moments;
- Gameplay is ok, i think the point of it is to level up your character so early game the gunfights and running are weak;
- Ok Story (kind of what you expect of the genre/Japan)

- Black bars are dumb and my theory is to disguise the lack of capability of running that game at 1080p;
- Texture loading problem on the cutscenes;
- The black bars + camera proximity makes it hard to see some stuff, specially during the stealth (perhaps it's designed that way).

monkeydelarge: The screenshots with the box man don't look scary at all. A guy with a fucking box over his head, seriously? That's not scary. That is just retarded. First of all, if a person has a box over his head, he would not be able see shit so the only way he could kill someone is if that person just stood still and made a lot of noise. If a guy with a box over his head and a apron started walking towards me, I'd assume, I just encountered someone with the mental age of a 4 year old and I'd try to help him find his parents.

Elmofongo: I will admit this game does nothing to me. The first enemy I saw in the early previews was really? A chainsaw man?

You could not make a new creepy monster instead of recycling Resident Evil 4?

But than again I did not see too much of the game because I rather be surprised. I have not read plot details or saw any other gameplay preview.
Yeah when I saw the chainsaw guy in one of the screenshots, I was thinking, "Hey, it's that guy from Resident Evil 4!"

Lemon_Curry: Well, Pyramid Head was already taken...

I would have gone for Möbius strip strumpet or Gordian knot nut.
They should of went with a snow globe. The snow globe man <- some scary shit... :P If you sneak up behind him and shake his head, you temporarily blind him.

Honestly, is anyone really surprised? I can't really explain why I saw this one coming, maybe it was seeing Shinji Mikami's name on the same box as Bethesda that did it.
The game itself looks pretty decent, even if it's much more Resident Evil 4 than Silent Hill (to be expected, though, given the director). But the terrible PC port annoys me. I could get it on PS3, but that feels a bit like supporting their idea that putting out a horrible PC port is perfectly alright.
I played one 90 minutes yesterday.

Ok for now, at least for now they "try" to be a survival horror game and didn't directly jump to being a dumb third person shooter like some other game I won't mention.

But technically speaking it's not very "brilliant" to say the least.

First issue I have : keyboard remap is pretty broken for my keyboard scheme. I haven't had a game with this bug for years but apparently it decided that I had a "French" (i.e. Azerty) keyboard while in reality I have a "Swiss French" (i.e. Qwertz) one. It wouldn't be so bad if it was consistent but here in the character remap screen it detect the key "correctly" but not in the game. So if I bind forward to "W" when I play the game it expect me to press the Azerty's "W" which for me is the "A". So in short I had to spend 30 minutes trying to find the correct key to be able to have WASD mapped to WASD.

Graphically the graphic option menu is a joke, resolution, AA Type, shadow quality and two others, no texture quality, no FOV sliders, nothing.

Like mentioned everywhere the game is locked at 30FPS and with huge black bars. There are some console commands to remove both, I tried, if I unlock the FPS it then range from 57 to 40 but it seems to shutter more than in 30FPS so I kept it locked at 30 for now.

The "black bars removal" works but is totally useless: removing the bar doesn't increase the vertical FOV but instead zoom and cut the left and right part of the picture. As a result the game is barely playable in full screen because of the resulting very narrow FOV.

Well at least with "default" setting it keep a steady 30FPS and doesn't look bad, it's just annoying to lose two third of your screen thanks to the black bars.

I always assumed FOV Sliders was only for First-Person games?
Both positive reviews are from... very commercial sources. I don't take that to be a coincidence. Even if the console version is any good, the PC version will be trash. I'm pretty sure of that.

It's a lot less useful for third person games, except for this one where it would have allowed to compensate for the "cropping" that occurs when you change the aspect ratio.
