Notapolarbear: Well that saddens me! I still have my copy for the Super Nintendo, but it doesn't remember saves anymore. That game was seriously the main game of my youth, and I've always dreamed of playing the other two. Thank you for the reply though, I guess I'll just have to find another copy and fork out a bunch of money for a copy that works.
Mentalepsy: Honestly, I wouldn't bother buying a new copy. If your copy won't save anymore, it's probably because the battery in the cartridge is dead. Any other copy you buy is most likely going to have a 20-year-old battery, so even if it does work, it probably won't work much longer.
It's possible to replace the battery, but you'd have to break out the soldering iron or take it to an electronics shop, so either way, you're taking a risk with the cartridge. You
might be able to find a copy on eBay that's had its battery replaced recently, but personally, I wouldn't gamble on an auction like that.
You might be surprised. I've read that Legend of Zelda on NES still has working batteries, and it's common instead of rare. I'm pretty certain most of my SNES games are going to still have their saves on them as well (I haven't been able to test as our SNES has been dead for a long while). It might be one of those things where the batteries are taking a soft charge when being used in the console.
