If someone were to ask me right now what my favorite movie is, I'd say Mortal Kombat. Thing is, I know it's not the best movie in the world. It's really probably not even a very good movie. It is still my favorite though.

Funny thing is, almost none of my reasons have to do with the movie. I like it because it was one of the first non-Disney/little kid movies my parents ever bought me. I was obsessed with it back then. I memorized all the lines-I still remember a lot of them. Even better, my cousins liked it too (they're a year or so younger than me-twins too BTW). We spent a whole bunch of time pretending to be our favorite characters fighting it out in Mortal Kombat. Mine was Rayden (obviously). It was fun. And that more than anything is why I still consider it my favorite movie-even almost 20 years later.

Yet, I know there's people out there who expect consider you beneath them if you answer anything other than Citizen Kane or the like.

So, is there a movie or game or something that you consider to be your favorite that most people wouldn't consider to be "worthy" of that title?
"The Best" is so subjective. Old movies like Gone with the Wind are rather boring to me, but to others they represent the greatness of days gone by in movies.

For me it's "The Postman". Love the movie and the story it has, but then again I really enjoy post apocalyptic movies. Now most people say it's too long and unrealistic, and even it is true I can't help but enjoy it every time I watch it :)
Well first of all, Mortal Kombat is an awesome movie. Not the sequels though, lol. I've learned to ignore modern movie critics, because if it's not about slavery or some other serious social commentary, it's not worth their time. I love a lot of 80s/90s action movies. One of my favorites is Independence Day, which is fairly popular, but I think most people who call themselves "critics" would laugh in my face. Another one that comes to mind is that I'm a huge Bond fan, and Timothy Dalton is my favorite Bond. Everybody looks at me like I'm nuts when I tell them that! He was great I tell you, great! =P
One of my all time favorite movies is The Last Valley. Awesome acting, music, scenery, everything really. But it doesn't even have a Tomatometer rating, and I couldn't care less!

Unfortunately everyone is entitled to an opinion and even if 90% agree that something is "the best" it doesn't really mean it actually is. Things like movies, games, even talent are subjective.

Some of you might disagree with the above but the truth is that a movie or a game can be bad today and tomorrow become one of the best of all times.

Anyway, back on topic:

Movie: The Unbreakable. The reason is that it might mean real superheroes exist but they don't even know they exist.

Game: This is an easy one, since I consider this game to be the best and it is also my favorite: Darklands.
Years ago it used to be Bambi.. but i was... 10?

My favorite movie... Probably a toss up between P-pax and Wall-E... Movies i can put on over and over again and i don't have to concentrate on too hard.

Now, see I like that too. The people in my class looked down on blockbusters and anything that didn't fit their "the director is god" paradigm (they all wanted to be directors of course).

When it was time to try to make our own films, though mine was the most artistic. Mostly because I sucked at making anything coherent-hey they like funny jump cuts in that class. *cough* I actually shot film upside down because I forgot that unlike still cameras, film ones do have a defined up and down.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Voyage of the Rock Aliens. I don't care what anyone says, if you watch that movie and don't have fun you are dead inside. Pretty sure its considered one of the worst movies of all time.

I have never managed to get through Citizen Kane without falling asleep.

Very likely if i were to shoot a short film, i'd probably heavily tie it into mathematics... Specifically some type of fractal zooming or something... I remember writing a zooming program in VB4, and it worked surprisingly well, up until you started getting to the limits of the float and the errors in calculations were getting too horrible.. I had a video like 3 minutes of zooming, then did another zoom from another location and it would zoom out, then have an intermediate where it would shift to the differences between the two final zoomed portions otherwise it was jarring...

I did that when i was... 15? God time flies. Naturally i had nowhere to put it so i might still have the sources...

Oh yeah film.... I might also take a song i like and make a music video as part of my film... Course that involves me losing weight and getting motivated... both are a hassle...
It is hard to come up with one title. As someone that loves the horror genre as a whole* (yes, even the shitty exploitative remakes and poor excuses for sub-B-movie tier acting and nudity), most the things I enjoy are things people would find unworthy.

*Does not include the super-gory stuff that is more torture-porn than movie.

From a film-making standpoint it is a great film. From a movie watching standpoint it may be the most boring film I have ever suffered through.
For me, it's always been Predator. The original, with Arnold. I loved the big tough guy movies from the 80s, and I thought there was never another movie as lean and perfect as Predator. I loved it so much that I bought the novels, the video games, even action figures. Nowadays I still know the term yautja and dream of another good Predator movie (preferably starring The Rock, not Adrien Brody for Christs sakes).

Favorite game, well, I've put more hours into the FIFA series than anything else, so probably that.
I know exactly what you mean. One of my favorite movies is "Ghost Rider" with Nicolas Cage. I liked the story and the hero that brings justice with his "Penance Stare". But for the rest of the world, Ghost Rider is the worst movie ever.

When it comes to games, I like Age of Empires 3. Many would disagree with my choice.
Different people, different tastes. Everybody has different criteria.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

Totally cheesy 80's-fest, which is why I love it. Always seems to show up on "worst" lists, though.
