klaattu: Does finally Jess return the perfume to Veronica?
avatar
Ghorpm: We don't know anything about it... but it hardly matters for the purpose of the riddle (in real life it would, of course!)
I think it matters. If Jess didn't return the perfume, the it would be a proof that instead of taking a cosmetic she the took the perfume.

If Jess did return the perfume then Veronica should at least noticed that Jess had gone two times to her room. If Veronica can notice what happens in other rooms she definitly can notice when the door of her opens.

And as for the chairs we can agree in some smplification. But from the outside we don't know if part of the riddle needs simplification or if needs no simplification at all.

I think you didn't understand me. Of course it matters but... not in the way you solve a puzzle. Jess couldn't put the perfume back because if she did I would have written it (just like you said - Veronica would have obviously noticed it). But I couldn't put a statement "the perfume is missing" because it would be too strong indication. So I tried to create the story in this way that you don't need to know it and yet be able to solve it. The very next step of a detective would be to check it, but we've just stopped the riddle before that ;)

I just wanted to clarify some misleading ideas from the case.
I didn't want to be negative, to the contrary. I want to thank your dedication to creating the case and answering all the questions.

I know that your (and other users as well) comments are not meant to whine and I've never thought otherwise! It's very good that you want to clarify everything. In fact it helps me too, so I'm very glad you ask questions.
I was glued to this all day yesterday, anxious to get the real answer. Who knew I had it all along?

Thank you for your generous gift. I was torn between a Tex Murphy games (how appropriate, right?), Warlords Battlecry 3 (I still have 2 -- great game, haven't tried 3) and The Longest Journey. I think my wife would enjoy The Longest Journey as much as me AND it's on sale tomorrow!

So, I choose The Longest Journey. You can get it tomorrow and save some!

And this comes at a super-awesome time. My 2-year old is having some pretty major surgery on Monday and I'll be stuck in a hospital room, mostly alone (children aren't allowed and we have a baby so my wife can only come sporadically), with a mostly-unconscious child. So I can play a good old game on my bad old laptop! And The Longest Journey is supposed to be 50 hours! It should fill up my whole week!

Thank you again for your generosity and the fun game!

Ghorpm:
As a side note, I thought it strange that neither Veronica nor Martin mentioned hearing Thomas take the shirt down to the laundry, just that his floor creaks.

Tallima:
Congratulations on solving the case, 'Detective' Tallima. ;-)

And my best wishes for you and your family. I hope everything goes well with that operation and you and your child can go back to home soon.

First of all - I wish all the best for your children.

And the second remark - you've won 10$ not a one game. So after spending 4$ (it's seems that would be price) on the Longest Journey you will still have 6 bucks so Tex Murphy 1+2 perhaps? (or any other 5.99$ game of your choice - it's up to you)

Martin reported his siblings going out of their rooms! While Veronica talked only about noises that distracted her. He was fairly used to the sound of door but the floor creaking was not a very common sound. I guess it was not Thomas' habit to go back and forth...

Ghorpm: Anyway it was very amusing experience for me and I really appreciate your contributions! I've decided that beside the main prize I will give two more, each worth 6$. The first goes to gameon for his intuition. From the very beginning he was convinced that it was Jessica and he never actually changed his mind (I don't count the time when he was joking). And the second one goes to adambiser as he is now officially crowned to be a king of speculations. The story about windows was indeed amazing! (http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/the_case_of_an_unfinished_will_contest/post74)

Congratulations everybody and I hope to see you all in my next contest!
I'm sorry to bump this thread, but i was wondering if i could claim this now?

Of course! I wasn't available before. It was my brother who turned on my computer and I had gog.com opened in my browser. That's why I seemed to be logged on while I didn't responded. I already have the gift code for the game you requested but I have some problems with sending it. I guess you know what I mean ;) Contact me via PM

Just replying to let the rest of GOG know this was just a simple mis-understanding.

But Ghorpm has been very understanding.
