I have joined the Steam community group. Woo.
Back on topic though, I absolutely love this community so far. Everyone here is surprisingly nice (for an internet community mind you) and will not hesitate to help other users. It's refreshing to see.
Here's hoping we can keep this going when the beta ends.

DukeNico: I agree! Done: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/goodoldgames

I'll give it to GoG.com administrators when they'll show up. Oh by the way I need a gog avatar.. right now there's a fallout cover. It fits but... not entirely you know :D

Nice man, thanks, I'm in now as well :)

Ois: Ahhh, so that's where it is. I swear I spent a while looking for the 'General' area yesterday. Now it is obvious I need to look a little closer.

and all this time you were sitting in it :D
I love the community here. Unlike a lot of forums i have been in where there are flame wars nearly every second threa here we have a great community spirit with people willing to help others.
You guys are the best
I feel welcomed :)
Yeah, it's really refreshing to have a forum (especially a gaming forum) where you can say or ask something without your and your mother getting insulted. We can only hope that it doesn't get worse after the beta.
And maybe pigs will fly. Or maybe because we'll be speaking of Good Old Games, the 10 year olds who think that bringing in the insult-cannons is best way to resolve a difference of opinions, rather than sensible discourse and resolution, will be so turned off by the lack of HDR they'll self-implode upon contact?
I think one of the main reason we can be a "Classy Community" is because
1. We are mostly adults
2. The website advertises its community as classy, thusly we feel more inclined to be so
3. We've already built up a forum presence, so hopefully wild posters will think twice and keep the omgzeee111 speak to themselves.
high rated
Plus we have the post rating option - which is not used too much by now - and we can use it to eliminate "you-suck-like" posts. A few negatives and a dumb post gets totally hidden (as far as I understand the system). Btw. I think we should also use the positive ratings to promote posts with valuable content. If we get used to this system during the beta phase, trolls will have troubles to break in.

And then
4. Simple yet powerful communication tool. Indeed, for the moment, this message board is focused on sending messages, nothing more, but powered with class. There are very few options (let's say it's limited to the obvious necessary), no smilies (oh God thanks), no fu**ing 3 feet-high signatures at the bottom of every post, we have the ability to stick by ourselves our own fav' threads, and thus make navigation a lot easier. This can prevent the forum from becoming an humonguous chat room for youngs kids.
Plus, I totally agree with UruramTururam on the rating option. Very useful option when we'll get fully accustomed to it. :)

HOD: no fu**ing 3 feet-high signatures at the bottom of every post

<3
I hate this 3 feet-high image signatures stuff. I like it more clean and easy to survey. :)
We have custom titles instead of sigs here.
For me it's just enough: name, title and avatar makes the account personalized and the posts recognizable but not disturbing.
And when someone needs a smiley he can always just type it. ;-)
Yes, I like the way this forum works.
