Yeah, I don't know what compelled me to play Morrowind. I remember a friend letting me play it, and I couldn't understand why I was unable to hit anything with my weapons. Then a spellcaster killed me and I didn't pick the game up again until months later when the GOTY edition was 20 bucks at EB.

Once I figured out how to play I was sucked in and spent an entire month of summer playing about 8 hours a day.

If your computer can handle Morrowind 2011 I really do recommend it.

I can see why someone not playing the game back when it was sort of new having trouble being interested in it, though. As much as I love that game, it has its share of flaws.
