doowopman: Good times indeed! ;)
So i couldn't resist and i put The WItcher 2 down for a little while to give Amber's patch a shot.

I installed the patch and the game is running on my W7 machine. And it's running beautifully ;)

There's a nice frame marking the full 1920X1200 of my screen and the viewport (and inventory window) rest neathly inside that frame. Transitions are working, save/load is working, the upper menu is working and the game runs smoothly.

Thanks again for pointing me to the patch, i haven't played for long because i want to do a proper playthrough but the patch seems to be better than anything i could have expected.

And i can't believe there's also a patch for Lighthouse, another one that gave me all kinds of problems on XP ;)

My pleasure! Glad that the Amber patch is running smoothly for you.

The squirtthecat patches are all worth checking out.

I have the Lighthouse patch but haven't tried it yet. Used the Phantasmagoria 2 patch with great results though.

CalamityRanger: Excellent! Aww, thank you for looking that up for me. :D Grace Jones is in it too? Oh man, I really do have to get it working. :3
No problem! It amazes me how much DOSBox has advanced since the earlier versions. There are only about two games that I had trouble getting to run in 0.74. The lack of protected mode support in earlier versions is probably what wreaked havoc with your previous install tries.

rjspring: I bought Ripper back in the day, gave up trying to run it on a modern system... would love GOG to carry it and the other titles mentioned
Hell, BD and Ripper are the three reasons I'd like to see 2k Games come on board at some point. :)

chris.frukacz: Got ripper at a charity shop for like £1 or 50p... Might try to get it up and running tonight if I mange to get away from doing overtime again...

Game might not be great but c'mon... Walken...
Oh yeah! Walken chews the scenery like crazy in this game. Paul Giamatti makes a cameo too.

Yeah, I just go around pawn and charity shops and pick up that kind of boxed gems for £1. Got original release of Alone in the Dark 2 and Myth that still need to be played :)

I do the same. I've built most of my vintage game collection that way. :)

Walken makes it all worth it, forgot PG was also in the game as well...

doowopman: Any other fans of these games here?

I haven't had the pleasure of playing Hell yet. It's on the short list since I loved Ripper and BD.

Ripper was amusing, gross, full of cheesy acting and I loved every minute of it!

BD is, IMO, by far the best of the lot. It uses a tweaked version of the Ripper engine. The story and acting is rock solid.

The only complaint I've ever had about Ripper and BD were the devious and sometimes downright unfair puzzles. It didn't hinder my enjoyment of either game though.

I recommend BD to any adventure fan. Even with the caveats and whopping 8 CDs worth of data, it's a classic of the genre. One of the best FMV games ever released as well. Right up there with the Tex Murphy games and Gabriel Knight 2.
Nothing like popping into a post three or four years later, but...

I don't know if it was a Take-Two game, but I still remember Voyeur. It stands out because it was one of the only FMV games to have a nude scene--and it was a threesome scene, no less!--and to my 17 or 18 year old brain, that was just awesome.
