Someone please God tell me there is a fix for this game. The mouse aim is like a drunken minigame in any other shooter, all over the place and horrid. It's literally unbearable, completely and utterly insane. I don't even know how to describe it... super lag, super unresponsive and then over responsive.

I guess I can play it with a controller if I have to but Christ...

Googling the issue resulted in some rare complaints where people said to turn off v-synch, which I did. It makes it slightly better but still absolutely unplayable. Some people say the Starbreeze engine is always like this but I played Riddick without a problem.

Help!

It was a pretty shitty port from the consoles to be sure, and I haven't had much luck with mouse control either. I've personally not really had a problem with the 360 gamepad controls, and the game has quite clearly been designed around that, This, even though I cannot play Modern Warfare 2 or Killzone with a gamepad to save my life.
God the control is soooooo bad. So, so bad.

V-synch off and "RGB16" off make it better, but still horrible and borderline intolerable. Googling turns up nothing, I don't think anyone bought this on PC. It's also a terrible console port in other ways, one of the worst I have seen in the past few years and reminds me of the early days of the 360. This is especially damming considering it's a fucking classic PC franchise.

What a train wreck...

You are not really selling the game to me right now, you know ... ;-P
Did you check for a .ini file to see if something goofy like mouse acceleration or mouse smoothing is enabled?

Why do games have that anyway?

Did some guy just wake up one morning and say, "Jeez, how can we screw up gaming today?"
Well, thanks for the warning. Was actually contemplating getting this.

Yeah in general vsync should be turned off if you're having mouse issues (sometimes I notice it's on when I'm experiencing mouse lag).
Also, have you attempted turning graphics down substantially? Maybe run it on minimum settings and see if it works?

Also, if there's a hardware mouse acceleration option - disable it.

I could be wrong but it suspiciously sounds to me like it could be a mouse acceleration issue. Do you know if there's a way to turn it off, .ini hack or otherwise? (A cursory Google search seems to tell me "no".)

I'm also wondering you could possibly ameliorate this by turning down the dpi settings on your mouse, if you can.

Edit: Might this How-To vid on YouTube help? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhGP2v_bCpo

Edit 2: The above video just describes how to turn off V-Sync, which you've already tried. I've tried to look for something on how to turn off mouse acceleration but I don't think you can. Is there any chance you could try playing the game with an XBox 360 controller/gamepad?

Yeah, like I said turning off v-synch makes it better but still horrible. There is no mouse options in the game and googling turned up nothing as far as tweaks.

I'll try it at low settings in a bit, but I would be surprised if Syndicate is the first game my machine can't max.

I did some more looking around and I found a YouTube vid of the problem where people have mentioned changing, "Options>Video>Bit Depth to RGBA8 when it originally was on RGBA16."

Someone else also mentioned mouse-specific issues, where his mouse's sensitivity was too high for the game to keep up; if you have a high-dpi mouse, I suspect that might be a factor...

Edit: Okay, so you changed the RGBA16 option too - looks like maybe the solution would be to see if you can change your mouse driver's sensitivity setting, or resort to using a gamepad. Good Lord, I'd heard that Starbreeze dropped the ball with Syndicate but I had no idea it was this bad.

Yeah, and the game doesn't seem that awesome to be going through the trouble. If it weren't for wanting to play something outside of Steam today so I can download Max Payne 3 off Steam I would have moved on already.

I'll try the DPI thing... I think it's on default.

There is a setting you need to edit somwhere in the files. I just can't remember what it is. Not much use I know, but keep searching. If I track down what it is, I will post it.

I remember it was completely unplayable until i did whatever i did. Found the solution on some obscure website but didn't write it down for some reason.

Edit: Scratch that. It was that you had to tell your videocard to force v-sync off. That fixed it for me. I think you may have already tried that.

Go to the following directory in windows 7:

Documents\Syndicate\SaveGames\Default\

right click "_profile" and open with a text editor like notepad or notepad++

This is the settings config file tied to your player profile, so you might have a different name if you are not using the default profile.
In here you can change all kinds of things, what they call "controller accelleration" seems to have done the trick for me though.
You can also force lower mouse sense here as well, I have mine set to 0.05000 for both x and y. Be aware though, touching the in-game sliders will set the sense back up if you changed it in the config.

Hope this helps.
Yeah, the mouse issues are pretty bad for this game. I am sort of enjoying it, but the mouse issues really hurt the game. also the fact that there is so much bloom and glare that it literally hurts my eyes to look at it for more than a few minutes.
