Has it started yet? I want to sign up and give it a shot but i dont know if beta testing started yet or it already happened

It has and it's wrapped in so much super-anal NDA I think that says all that needs to be said for the likelihood that the game will not suck ass. I hear it's invite only and a lot of people are only getting to play for one weekend, which means it's more likely a publicity stunt than a true beta.

Wait for the open beta, if there is one. If not, I doubt anything of value will have been lost anyway.

Let me be blunt at one point an ex dev mentioned they were most proud of the speech after playing the weekend special I can see why...

If you've signed up, you might be on an upcoming list. If you haven't, it's going to be a while before they do an open beta (if they do one).

Doubt it would be by phone. It would most likely be an invite via the e-mail you signed up on their site with.

A couple people in the beta tell me "you would love it, it's basically a singleplayer game."

My response to that is "then why is it online only and cost $15 a month?"

I really cannot tell if that's an endorsement or a criticism. You're friend hasn't played many MMOs to end game then. His "single player" game experience won't last for long. At the top end the whole concept is so constrained by the lore the game must be literally doomed no matter how good a job they've done.

I got in, but I couldn't play. 22GB is too much for me.
