One of the most memorable games of all time, courtesy of Codemasters - Cannon Fodder - has just arrived at GOG.com and it's available for only $5.99
Cannon Fodder is an isometric point-and-click with a touch of strategy. Each mission you're given a handful of freshly drafted soldiers, a list of objectives from "kill all enemies" to "kidnap the enemy leader" and need to fight your way through impossible odds. Your troops gain ranks as you progress through the game (if they survive the mission, which is a big "if") and each has a unique name and is given his own gravestone if he runs out of luck on the battlefield. Cannon Fodder is all about fun, quick wits, sharp reflexes and pure blind luck. So get your copy today, make sure the boys do their duty and get back home in as few pieces as possible!
Wow. That is... really surprising
Double Yew Zero Zero Tee!
I'm so having this game! War has NEVER been so much fun!

Speaking of "War has never been so much fun"... This reminds me of the glorious days of music on .MOD files... :) Too bad it wasn't released on the PC version, though...
Also, teh hardcore version
The awesome thing about Cannon Fodder was that, despite your soldiers being no more than 50 pixels in area, and having like a 6-letter name tops, you grew attached to them. And when your entire squad tripped on a mine and went BOOM, you were all like "Jools! Jops! NOOOOO!!!!!1!11eleventyone"!

HD video. ;>
WOW! WAW! WOOOW! NO WAY! CANNON FODDER! YEAH! :D I love u GoGers :P
If only we could get the Amiga version. Sadly, that was published by Virgin Interactive, not Codemasters.
[EDIT] Hmm, but according to MobyGames, so was the DOS version. Do Codemasters have the rights to all versions, perhaps?

Im sure I'll pick this up in the next week. Good memories of riding around in tanks blowing stuff up. It would have been good if it was CF1 + 2 in the one pack but for $5.99 you cant complain too much :)

Riding around in tanks? Are you sure you're thinking of Cannon Fodder?
I'm pretty sure you could use tanks on some levels.
Also: Thank you GOG. This, I will buy.

I don't remember any vehicles in the game at all, but then, my memory is fallible... VERY fallible ;-)
Ah, look at the screens. There's a couple of tanks in one of them. :-)
