Well, the ever-great Steam Summer Sale is drawing to a close. I know that I ended up buying more games than I probably should have. Bulletstorm, Just Cause 2, the first two Call of Juarez games, Fallout New Vegas + DLC, Hard Reset, Red Orchestra 2, and Univserse Sandbox are now all in line to play, and my wishlist is looking a little less enticing now that I've cleared some of my most wanted games off of it Hoping that Mirror's Edge will be chosen as the next game, too. I kinda regret not picking up Metro and Borderlands when I had the chance, though. Not sure why I didn't. I also regret not waiting to buy SS3. I paid full price for it about a month ago :P

So what games has everyone bought during the sale?
we already have a thread for this

it's over 90 pages by now

...and that might be why I am thankful to jefequeso to open that "WHAT GAMES HAVE YOU BOUGHT" thread, even if the title "summer sale" could be changed...

I don't want to have to browse through 90 pages to know what games people bought.

I also ended buying way more games than I intended to. But some deals were too good to be ignored. So, I bought:
- The binding of Isaac
- Chantelise/Recettear/Fortune summoners
- Costume Quest
- Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate edition
- Might and Magic Heroes VI + DLC
- Monkey Island 1 & 2 special editions
- Stacking
- Swords and Soldiers HD
- Torchlight
- Two Worlds II velvet edition
- Unstoppable Gorg
- Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines

That's waaaaay too many games for the free time i will have during next months, especially with the awaited release of Guild Wars 2, LOTRO Riders of Rohan and Borderlands 2, but, oh, well... ^_^
was there any drm-free game ?

Telika: was there any drm-free game ?
sure there were. Unless you're referring to Steam's always-online requirement, in which case I'll thank you to keep your snide remarks to yourself.

I didn't check the sale at all, because i associate steam to the steam drm system. I am only confronted to steam when I accidentally buy a retail game that happens to require it, so I assume that everything bought there functions the same way. But I would have had no problem buying a real autonomous downloadable drm-free (and steam-online-requirement-free) game from that website, though. If there were some, I may have missed them because of that assumption.
From Amazon:
Sniper Elite V2 for $16.19
Square Enix Ultimate Collection (Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Supreme Commander 2, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light) for $7.03
Assorted songs for $4.95

From Steam (Doing it by transaction to make it easier):
Sniper Elite V2 Rifle Pack and Hitler Mission for $5.35
Hydrophobia: Prophecy, Dungeon Siege I, II, III with Treasures of the Sun DLC, Toy Soldiers for $25.22
Universe Sandbox, Age of Empires Online - Starter Pack DLC Unlock for $7.48
Arma II: Combined Operations (NA) for $17.99
Red Orchestra 2 - Digital Deluxe Edition (ROW) for $7.49
Men of War: Collector Pack 2012, Dear Esther Game Plus OST for $16.23
Cave Story+ for $2.49 (Bad purchase, turns out I already own it)
Killing Floor - Urban Nightmare Character Pack, Killing Floor - Harold Lott Character Pack for $1.73
Magicka Lonely Cruise DLC for $0.49
Warband Napoleonic Wars DLC for $2.49
Bunch Of Heroes, Bunch of Heroes Halloween DLC, Frozen Synapse: Red DLC for $4.01
Tribes: Ascend - Steam Starter Pack for $4.99
Trine 2 Collector's Edition Upgrade, Trine 2 for $6.23

Gifting:
Killing Floor - Outbreak Character Pack, Killing Floor - Nightfall Character Pack, Killing Floor PostMortem Character Pack 2 DLC, Trine 2 Collector's Edition Upgrade, Killing Floor Christmas Character Pack DLC, Killing Floor - Urban Nightmare Character Pack, Killing Floor - Harold Lott Character Pack for $6.19

Grand total (Not counting Just Cause 2 DLC if it gets cheaper from today): $136.55
Fuck me, I spent a lot...

Steam is a requirement to install games. There's no going around this.
But you can play them outside of the client. Maybe not the new games, but indies and oldies are easily runnable independently. One just need to go to the /steamapps/ folder and play as he pleases without bothering with the black steamy always-online thingy.
But again, I'm talking classics and indies, I doubt that's the case with post-2008 AAA titles.
I bought
Super Street Fighter 4
Carpe Fulgur pack
Fallout New Vegas Complete
Fallout 3 GOTY
Trine 2
Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars

All in all spent $41.

Not bad.
