Don't even get me started on coaches in football. What impact do they have on the team anyway, people ask, it's the players that are running around kicking the ball after all. Well, when they suck they have an impact alright, let me tell ya.
In four years our local team here went from winning the championship, beating Man. City and kicking Juventus out of the group stages of the Europa League to getting humiliated in every qualifier year after year, most recently by semi-professionals from Iceland. Got pretty tragicomical after that game, with the fans so disgusted, the stadium started clapping and cheering for the celebrating opponents. Stjarnan are now on a trip to Milan to play Inter, while we're in a deep hole after 3 consecutive years without cup money.
It started with the owner hiring Jose Bakero, who apparently had maimed him with plans of turning Lech into the 'Polish Barcelona'. He'll be remembered for one hell of a squad rotation concept, shoving strikers on wings and midfielders up front. Nobody knew what was going on, including the players.
But when we thought things couldn't get worse, they handed over the rains to a young, inexperienced local assistant coach that produced some of the clubs most historical failures, all the while antagonizing or letting go most of the older, experienced squad that was left.
"Give'em time" they said...
Now I'm all worked up. Count me in for:
T1: Wizardry 8
T2: Bloodrayne
T4: Realms of Arkania Blade of Destiny
Cheers!
