Don't even get me started on coaches in football. What impact do they have on the team anyway, people ask, it's the players that are running around kicking the ball after all. Well, when they suck they have an impact alright, let me tell ya.

In four years our local team here went from winning the championship, beating Man. City and kicking Juventus out of the group stages of the Europa League to getting humiliated in every qualifier year after year, most recently by semi-professionals from Iceland. Got pretty tragicomical after that game, with the fans so disgusted, the stadium started clapping and cheering for the celebrating opponents. Stjarnan are now on a trip to Milan to play Inter, while we're in a deep hole after 3 consecutive years without cup money.

It started with the owner hiring Jose Bakero, who apparently had maimed him with plans of turning Lech into the 'Polish Barcelona'. He'll be remembered for one hell of a squad rotation concept, shoving strikers on wings and midfielders up front. Nobody knew what was going on, including the players.
But when we thought things couldn't get worse, they handed over the rains to a young, inexperienced local assistant coach that produced some of the clubs most historical failures, all the while antagonizing or letting go most of the older, experienced squad that was left.
"Give'em time" they said...

Now I'm all worked up. Count me in for:
T1: Wizardry 8
T2: Bloodrayne
T4: Realms of Arkania Blade of Destiny

Cheers!

RWarehall: I tend to be pretty inclusive, which also begs the question is poker a sport? Where is the line drawn?
by definition, no athletic component, not a sport...

a couple of favourites for this question:

darts - not a sport, two words: Andy Fordham

golf - sport or game? being athletic must help, so maybe it is a sport, but Colin Montgomerie's moobs say otherwise :p

RWarehall: Looks like a slow week so far, time for a bump. Here's another one...how about Ray Rice (American football of the Baltimore Ravens). Knocks his girlfriend out in a Vegas elevator, caught on video dragging her out, gets only a 2 game suspension. Meanwhile Robert Mathis of the Colts got 4 games for taking a fertility drug. At least he got his wish and had a newborn daughter born in July.
This is one of the most egregious and sickening examples of the insipid hero worship that most people display when it comes to athletes.

Yet if one looks at history, the same sort of thing happened with those considered great warriors. The most "chivalric" knights also tended to be those who were most successful in pillaging and looting the countryside when warring. Called "chevauchee's" (cavalcade) they were raids specifically designed to terrify rural areas and weaken opponents.
Now through the lens of history we can focus on the other things these men did and understand why people would have wanted to be them and admired them, but I do hope that in a century or more from now no one is looking back on modern day athletes who rape and beat on women (that MMA fighter is another disgusting example) and stating how they were misjudged or misperceived and were simply "men of their time in history."

NOT in, but thanks yet another GA.
Thanks for the great giveaway! I'm in for Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves !

I don't think wrestling should've been dropped from the Olympics. I find it to be quite a good fit for it. I've read somewhere that it will be reinstated in 2020 though.
Count me in for all games! I would prefer Trine, but I'd take any.

My favorite sports are UFC, MotoGP and Football.
Is Auto Racing a real sport?
Being a F1 fan I'm dissapointed by how the "sport" has changed in the recent years.
So many electronics and automations, it's like the drivers ability is not relevant anymore.
Just build a super-expensive formula and have anyone at the wheel to lead it to victory. Meh....
Anyone remember this :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eE3gCy5zvM#t=42

I'm in for Mark of the Ninja: Special Edition (Tier #1 )

IanM: by definition, no athletic component, not a sport...
that doesnt work in my opinion, i have looked up a definition for athletic = physically active, outside of the basic physiological processes.

and a human is even physically active at an math competition, basically the brain, but thats enough.

so a competition with athletic component is even a hot dog eating competition.

or are there more restrictions in the definition?
I'll give this a go!

In!
For Tier #1 Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space

Poker is not a sport! Chess is not a sport, golf is not a sport, NASCAR is not a sport. In no particular order, these things are passtimes, games, hobbies or a pretext to get drunk and watch a looping billboard for 3 hours ;) I'm not sure which is which.

Wrestling should never have left the Olympics! This is like, what? Only one of the games that was actually, I dunno IN THE FREAKIN' OLYMPICS!!! Glad to hear it's coming back though, didn't know that.
