I don't know the inner working of Steam, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's like when you run a newspaper and you have ads to sell. The space that doesn't sell, you use filler with ads of your own paper or some sort of social ads like what you see in the yellow pages or what have you.
Makes me wonder if there are times when they have space for, say, twelve deals per day, but during business discussions, a couple of developers didn't get on the boat and Steam has to "fill" that space with a deal of their own.

Not available here. Maybe an error? Because I remember being able to buy it few weeks / month ago.

GOG never has games for $0.50-$2.50 like msot of my Holiday Steam purchases were. If anything, GOG's "Sales" make me LESS likely to use the service, since they are never blockbuster sales.

By the way, it has been quiet holiday week for me, didn't purchase a single game. GG didn't seem too concerned with my question about The Witcher, so I didn't buy the game. Will probably get it at retail, since it obviously a much bigger deal than any DD version of it.
