Crassmaster: Why do people still listen to Michael Pachter? Seriously?

The guy makes 3,300 predictions a week, and everyone focuses on the 1 or 2 he's right about (which is really due to the law of averages more than everything else) and ignore the other 3,298 that were flat out wrong.
Cause everyone finds funny this guy can know anything on videogames.

I saw him during the Duke Nukem 3D TNT, and he seems like a nice enough person. He just goes around predicting shit that never comes true.

At 1:20 is the most important part.

"I think anything a publisher does to make sure you don't rip off their game is their right, and if you don't like it great go find something else to do with your time. So do I think they made a mistake? I wish all games were like that because I think people who steal should be in jail. And I welcome the flamer comments on this one. Because if you think that's right good for you. We have no interest in your business since you don't pay for stuff anyway."

Pachter is all for Draconian DRM and wants more of it. DRM takes away from the consumers rights. You payed for a game but you don't own it anymore. Good luck playing that game down the road better hope Ubisoft decides to keep the servers up... even on single player games. Pirates suck but they don't pay and get the game with no hassle. DRM does not and will never stop pirates. Anything and everything can always be cracked it only takes time. Why should paying consumers get stiffed.

Long live Good Old Games.

And this has what at all to do with the underlying discussion of his lack of ability to make good predictions? Oh, that's right, NOTHING.

Can we please have one thread that doesn't just devolve in to "Oh my god, guyz! These DRM's be ILLIN'!"?

Feel better? I wasn't talking you. I was replying to the guy on what a nice enough person this guy is. He is a jack***. He cares little for the consumer.

That's right, and it isn't his job to care about the consumer. It is his job to try to predict where tech will go...a job he isn't particularly good at.

As for his personal opinions on DRM, they're his personal opinions. No more or less valid than the personal opinions of you or I or anyone else. Case closed.
Cool story bro
Want to bet the fee is way too high?

There's online broker sites that take a dollar per trade, when it gets that cheap, let me know.
