DelusionsBeta: UK shops. Where $50 equals £15
Apart from that it's retail, not DD - 24.99 RRP slashed by play. Standard price for PC games (£25 - £30). 15 quid is a fair price for a good game released in 2009. I'm talking about new, fresh releases. Quite a few GoTY games are released around 15 quid (got Fallout 3 GoTY for 10 quid in local store on release date) but unfortunately it's not a rule.

I don't want to continue arguing about that, know it won't change etc. You got to shop smart (some of the smaller online shops do great deals on games new, older and pre-owned) especially in retail stores. Supermarkets are a good bet sometimes as they lower the price of some games on release date (I think I got World at War for like 27 quid compared to 44 for PS3) and Wrath of the Lich King was on the shelves for 10 quid for some time.

All you really have to do with retail games is snoop around (good site for that and many more - hotukdeals.com) and you can get games cheap.

Jagji56: Yep, thats right. The prices on STEAM are, put simply, F U C K E D.

Put simply, Australia is getting ripped of heavly. Hell, most contrys are, but looking at some of the games, Aus is geting fucked over the worst.

Point in case:

Soldier of Fortune®: Payback.

Us Aussies pay $56 bucks US. Thankfully the exchange rate is at a point where its only a few dollars more in Aus ($58AU). However, the US is getting it for $20USD, and Britain even cheaper at $11USD. And that is just one game.

On the other hand, Australia is getting Crysis cheaper, with it only being $14.99USD for Aus, while the US is paying $20USD, and Britten $26USD.

Still, that's the best we have, and compared to Soldier of Fortune®: Payback, it really is nothing.
Jag, man. I'm an American that moved to NZ and I have to agree that the prices we're forced to pay for gamage in these two countries is absolutely reediculous.

BUT

That's why I turn to Steam, GoG, GamersGate because even though we are still paying a lot for these games, they still turn out cheaper than if we walk into our local shops and get them.

I will say one thing though, you've got a good online store over there called DVD Crave and Mighty Ape is awesome when they have specials, which is nearly all the time.

When they released Baldur''s Gate here for ten and everyone acted like they hadn't seen it for a long time I realized that I just payed $20 NZD for the hard-copied compilation of Baldurs I & II plus expansion for both.

So over here in Australasia we really need to shop around.

I agree. STEAM is cheep. That still dose not mean there are games on there that are over priced tho. Thats the problem.SoF:P is probably the worst game on STEAM for us to buy. And, as I pointed out, Aus dose get some games cheaper, so its not all bad.

The main problem I have with it is the pre-orders. Fallout New Vegas is a good example of it. At pre-order, it was 60 bucks USD for Aussie gamers over STEAM. However, the day after it came out of pre-order, the price jumped up to what it is now, a massive 90USD.that's a $30 in cress in price. There was no pre-order discount on it. The same thing happens to Borderlands, and I think the DoW2 expansion as well.

Moving..... on.....

I have never used DVD Crave, but I did get some stuff from Mighty Ape. They have an Ausy site up now, but I think it still gets shipped from NZ. All you have to do is look at the price for Metro 2033 over there ATM. lol

Several of the board's aussies are buying keys from a key site for Steam games. I recommend not supporting such DRM but if you must have it, it should save you some cash.
Take your pick! Only 5 bucks each. They open anything.
