Yar, the last official patch still doesn't allow the game to run on my Windows 7 x64 right but using the unofficial patch(which also fixes many other bugs that exist in the game) makes it run silky smooth.

It is well worth the trouble as it is a really good game once you can actually play it. :)

carnival73: I've got a couple of shops that I can buy hard copy from that have a seven day return policy, even for PC games.

Bloodines, however, can no longer be bought hard copy unless you pay over eighty USD for it from a collector on eBay.
Here's someone who put the disc up for auction rather than buy it now and it's sitting at $3, if you're interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vampire-Masquerade-Bloodlines-PC-Games-2004-/190453655231?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2c57ec26bf

Still, I am surprised how expensive the game is on ebay, you're right. I wish I wasn't a collector, I would sell mine.
Forgot to mention, I also tried the unofficial patch(s) too. =L
Hmm... XP even. Mobo drivers? I'm unfamiliar with ATI drivers, but maybe google the game name and then the ATI driver set you're on to see if there are similar issues. You might try rolling back if so.

Oh, and turn off the in-game Steam overlay, that messes with some games.
I've tried the newest 8 point something drivers and currently have 6 point something drivers installed that came on disc with my card (they're much more stable).

Not sure the Steam overlay feature is on? I have the option of hitting Shift + Tab if I want to open it.

EDIT = Vaary interesting! unchecking 'enable steam community in game' this I have not yet tried and found the steam forum thread involving it. i always thought that was automatically off unless I hit shift tab.

So, just as soon as I get done downloading me free copy of Cube 2, I shall go and reinstall Bloodlilnes for the umpteenth time and try it with steam switched off.

EDIT = We haaaaave lIfffffTTTTT ooooooooFFF!!!

Thanks Velvet, you fixed it quicker than the techs could. Three weeks after purchase I finally got it running. It WAS the client running in the background.

Time to go get that 7.1 patch and alert the techs in my ticket NOT to pull it because I fixed it.

EDIT = Now that I flicked this thing off, would this fix those other digital games that were blue screening? The two I'm thinking of are not Steam games, I got them from D2D but would that Steam feature have been what was messing with these too?

Glad I could help... I remember that messing with some Steam game I was playing a while ago, so it can be a somewhat common problem with some older titles. Glad it worked out for you.

As for non-Steam games it would only mess with them if you launch them through Steam I would assume. I know when I was a big Steam fan and launched all my games though it there were a couple that wouldn't launch through Steam but worked fine from a normal shortcut. Gothic 2 was one of them.
I'm getting Battlefield 2 this week from Steam. Is that going to be doable online with Steam off? What exactly is the Steam community for - just to let friends in my friend list know what I'm playing?

I'm not really one to ask for examples, I only buy Steam exclusives on Steam. As for what the the in-game interface is for, it's mostly for chatting with friends while playing, but when you turn it off you also lose the achievement notifications (though you still earn achievements) and the in-game web browser. I assume you would lose access to your Prima guides, if you were gullible enough to buy one.
Naw, I've got free guides at GameFAQs. .lol.

Scrapland works now too, so wondering if Steam client was interfering with that as well.
If you haven't got bloodlines working, let me know. It's a legend, and should one If ( not now) day be a GOG.
I've got a lot of things working now. Heh heh.

Got kicked offline and to desktop in BF2 tonight only to find that Steam was tossing its latest news at me so I turned the news updater off too.
