Apologies if this is out of place but I wasn't able to find anything more appropriately marked as a potential request for games.
My little bro actually found Starlancer a long time ago when he bought it with a three pack that included Metal Gear Solid and Crimson Skies (another title that's more than deserving of being here but I digress). At the time I'd played through Freespace 1 and 2, and had thoroughly enjoyed both titles but had been somewhat less than impressed with immersion.
While you never really rely on your wingmates to win you a mission it would happen more often than not that Alpha 1 (you) would be the last man standing and there would be empty blips registering for the rest of Alpha flight as well as Beta sometimes on through Epsilon (more?) and yet the next sortie they had somehow managed to recruit 15 new pilots to fly suicide missions with you again.
Starlancer tried to give your wingmates names and faces as well as give the carrier you flew from and some of it's crew personality whether it was the aging British carrier that was a converted cargo ship right on up through the top of the line Japanese carrier that you conclude the game from. Another added touch was that they did the same for some of the wings you flew against and the Ace pilots of the Coalition who lead them.
While not the greatest game I've ever gotten to play it was definitely one that was worth the experience and something that would be at home here.
