Hey all

Just found my discs for the game in the title. Does anyone know if it works in Vista 32.

I would normally just install and check but im on the laptop while i fix my desktop (should be done later tonight)

Looks like that game has a tough time running on modern OS. But this might be worth trying:

Do Not change the compatibility mode for the Force.exe file. You will need to run this file as it is in order to change your performance options (i.e. display mode, texture quality, sound quality, etc.)

However, don't launch the game from that menu. Instead, change the Focom.exe file under "Resources\Focom.exe" to run in compatibility for Windows 95/98. (To change compatibility, right click on the file, click properties, click "compatibility" tab, then click "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose "Windows 98 / Windows Me".

Create a shortcut to Focom.exe on your desktop, start menu, or wherever you wish to launch it from, and run that file.

This fix worked for me, with the exception that cutscenes are very slow and choppy, and must be skipped by pressing "Esc". Other than that, everything works amazingly well!
Good luck getting this game to work for you! =)

i have windows 7, and i can't even install the game.
however, i have not tried it on Vista.
if it does not work in Vista, try running the game in a Virtual Box with Windows 98 on it.
or just use an older computer.
[i still have my XP computer]
I could try the game myself tomorrow but in general, LucasArts has a TERRIBLE track record for running their older Windows software.
thank you for the replies guys, I just got this comp put back together but will try the game tomorrow

The failure to install is the old "Install prgram is 16 Bits, and 64 Bits Windows do not like 16 Bit programs"i issue.

Force Commander is pretty much regarded as a flop ,anyway. Terrible Controls, and Lucasrts did not really understand back in 98 that you approach a startegy game in a different way then a action game.
Star Wars:Empires At War pretty much replaced Force Commander.
Got it working thanks to what mondo84 advised.

I meant to mark his post as the solution but somehow was a dumbass and marked the wrong one, Sorry mondo84

I never played that one, not really a fan of racing games personally but I can understand their appeal
