Im going to replay stalker now that i have a videocard thats not held together with dreams and unicorn tears...
So im trying to decide if i want to use Oblivion Lost, or STALKER Complete 2009... My focus is no quest time limits and a better looking world... IM not opposed to installed a few mods to get that, EG: Oblivion Lost and a texture Mod...
If anyone has a suggestion or experience with the 2 mods let me know... Or if i can edit my global task_manager.ltx for infinite quest time from Complete 2009 that could work as well.
Main things im looking for are better Textures, and close to the original ideas of STALKER as i can have... Complete 2009 has everything that im looking for but OL has the other half... lol
Complete 2009, no contest.
All Oblivion Lost does is add a load of unfinished crap back into the game that was taken out because *drumroll* it's unfinished crap. If you want to see what the game was going to be like then it's a nice little diversion. But don't bother trying to complete the game with that mod.
Complete takes what made it into the final and improves upon it. Nothing drastic. But it adds up to a big difference all the same.
Oh and there's a separate mod that removes time limits that's quite small and includes 'time limits' in the name. If complete doesn't have that already then I'd go with that.

I agree with 'Complete 2009', it's an update/polish of the game, no major changes. Though the 'AI' is a bit smarter, it's no longer as easy to hide behind a tree/post and knock them all off.
a list of changes here
I'd like a "Just fix what was broken" mod/patch for this game.
Is there something that works just like that? Without adding new gameplay changing stuff?

LURK is perfect for what your asking for.
I played a little of Oblivion Lost and it seemed quite nice. I would recommend playing it after a first play thru to get some sweet changes.
Interesting... Does anyone know if these work with the Steam version? I picked it up during the holiday sale and will get around to it one of these days.
I would recommend L.U.R.K.

I'm running 'Complete 2009' with the steam version. Just be sure to turn off 'check for updates' and you should be fine.

So what is LURK like? There's only so much I can gather from the jumbled up ModDB page. Although the new weapons look nice.

Try Old Good Stalker Mod HERE, it's in russian but is the best for what you want.

It's a major overhaul, which extensively changes weapon behaviour (for the better), and improves graphics, weather, AI and adds proper stealth. Can't remember all of the features at the moment, but I'll check the readme once I get home from work. It's still a work in progress, though, but it's excellent. A major update is coming in April.

So I take it that the weapons are far more powerful? One thing I had to mod out immediately in STALKER was how weedy the weapons are.

Yeah, aiming is much better and weapons are much more effective.

Nice! That's definitely the kind of thing I'm looking for. I noticed the mod some time ago. But it was very unfinished then. So I went with Complete instead. Maybe I should give it a try.
