CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference live tomorrow at 5:00 PM GMT

People say it is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies. GOG.com has proven otherwise, and you knew it’s spring after eight daisies already: Legend of Grimrock, Treasure Adventure Game, Trine, The Whispered World, Machinarium, Wing Commander 4, Spacechem, and Darwinia. However, as many a sudden change takes place on a spring day, we’re about to reveal another four amazing daisies tomorrow during CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference.

The harvest of a whole year depends on what you sow in the springtime. And this year, oh boy, we’re into some serious sowing. During CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference we will:
* tell you what has changed on GOG.com in case you missed it
* offer a sneak peek at future GOG.com releases
* give you a special gift as a big, sweet “thank you” to our users

Remember that those who arrive to the spring first, drink the purest water-- or
Remember that spring won't come from one flower--we need plenty of you to watch the CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference!

spinefarm: And GOG are trying to make more ppl happy and that is bad for you.

Pheace: No? You're just putting words in my mouth here. I never said anything of the sort. In fact I gave them a kudos for handing it out despite me already owning it.

Please know who you're arguing with and what you're arguing about before making comments -_-
I've missed an "?" at the end of my sentence :)
GOG deserve kudos even if they gave everybody a free wallpaper.... Cause they are not obligated by anything to give free games ;)
54:12 of video.

Time to sit and watch, since I missed it yesterday.

TJF588: However, when I try to "gift this game", a message pops up saying, "Whoops! Something went wrong, sorry :(". Is this intentional/expected, or could I spread the love to mine brethren for later redemption?
Since gift codes don't expire for a long time-like a year--it would not behoove us to let you gift a free copy of the game and sit on the code forever. The error message could be more helpful, but it's intentional.

Please know this.

You are a fucking idiot.

Damnit, now you're putting words in my mouth.
I want that option too but you can do it easily with AdBlock add-on to Firefox and Chrome. Just block the elements. :)
Will the conference by repeated? I'd like to watch now and see what all the fuss is without reading nearly 900 comments.

The recording of the conference should still be up on the initial news post, just watch that.

As for all this fuss over a portion of the user bases not getting a free game is just silly and ridicules since it's impossible to give something away that will please everyone and it's sicking to see people act like it could be otherwise.

Seriously all this complaining about Fallout or whatever game being made free and you not get a free game is a stupid as those people who complain on Steam User Forums about the game they just bought going on sale.

You buy a game you run the risk of it being put on sale or made free at a later date that's the risk you take deal with it and stop acting like a bunch of kids complaining about how you missed out on getting free ice cream

I think the problem here is that many people were very expectant of news from the presentation and (like myself) found that it had little of interest to them. I regularly check the site and not much of it was news that was relvent to me as I am a PC gamer (I don't own TW2).
On top of that, GOG talked alot about rewarding loyal customers, many of whom will already own Fallout in one form or another. The result being, many "loyal", long term customers who were told of an interesting presentation, often went out of their way to watch it, saw a presentation aimed at non-pc media and aimed at pulling in new customers. They felt dissapointed.

When one makes promises that some people stay up half the night to witness, when it says it will reward it's loyal fanbase. Then puts on a show that isn't aimed so much at it's fanbase and releases a free game that doesn't reward a large section of said fanbase then it isn't surprising that some people write to express that they are loyal goggers but have been dissapointed. While it may sound entitled, it is no more than what they have been told to expect in the first place. That's what happens when expectations are created.

While sometimes it does come across as a bit whiny (sometimes, very whiny to the point of being pathetic). For the most part, people have just expressed their regret at not getting something new and exciting, and have been verbally attacked.
To me the proper responce is something along the lines of, "awe, that sucks, hopfully next time it will be something you don't have" rather than the "shut up and stop whining" I seem to see everywhere.

BTW, I have no problem with Fallout being released, I think it's pretty cool and understand that gog must have gone to quite an effort to get the deal to go through (though I had hoped for a new game). But it also has almost no effect on me (though I admit, I am somewhat dissapointed by the presentation). I have since learned that while gog is a pretty cool company, they always seem to exagerate the potential interest of their press releases and give aways. The same as most companies for that matter.

Now what I would be impressed to see is if Seven kingdoms became free (considering it (and it's soundtrack) is already free to download legally : ) (though I also own that on physical media)

Edit: I say I was dissapointed by the press release/conference thing. I think it is awesome for gog and will bring in new users which is good for gog and so, hopfully (assuming they continue on their good, drm free games with world wide prices) good for me. I just found that right there and then, there was nothing of interest for me as a longer term user.
I am glad to see GOG doing well though, as I am sure are all gog users. I am looking forward to seeing more of these "premium" edition games as one of the reasons I can't be arsed buying newer games is because of DRM and that new content is released all the time. I like to play what I consider to be a complete edition which is what GOG seems to be offering. I am a little worried about these day one releases however.

i remeber being mildly dissapointed for a few minutes when I heard that GoG were giving away free copies of Empire Earth, which is one of my favourite RTS's of all time .

but I don't think it's fair to blame them. GOG has to jump through tons of hoops to convince people holding the rights to our favourite classics to allow them to be sold here, DRM-free, since (to the publishers) this is near equivalent to posting the game on tPB--they expect it to be pirated mercilessly.

GoG has given us a lot of free games--if I recall correctly, they gave all their users Ultima IV for free once they brought the Ultima games here, no?
Yes, Fallout may seem like a strange choice for a whole bunch of people, but I think it's a good chice. and I'm sure there'll be other giveaways for games that you (people who've already bought Fallout) won't have.

Ultima 4 is free for all.

kud13: snip
I think that is what most people have felt, a bit of dissapointment which they (usually) express mildly but it all gets exagerated by agressive commentators.
I don't blame gog, I think they exagerate how cool their (and CD project) press releases/conferences will be, but all companies do that. It just leads to some people getting high expectations and feel let down a bit.

Gog are doing good work and everyone (even those who are dissapointed) realise it. There is just this aggression behind so many posts, and the creation of strawmen that makes things worse.
quit complaining and just enjoy. These are just games afterall. GOG needs to go forward as it is. I am looking forward to all new promos, free games and new releases and hope you still look for some of the old classics. Great job keep em coming

SLP2000: Ultima 4 is free for all.
Actually Ultima 4 is only free on certain sites such as GOG, Ultima forever, and two other sites who had permission to host the game from back in the days when Origin systems was still around.
I was expecting a new classic game to be given for free not something that's been on the site for a long time now.

Well, what he said is that GOG "gave all their users Ultima IV for free once they brought the Ultima games here"

and I said, that it's free for all. I meant "it''s free for all here".
