The Wing Commander Series Promo lasts only until Saturday, September 21, at 9:59AM GMT. Don't miss out on your grand space adventure!
Arkose: Prophecy and Armada are both due on GOG, according to Wing Commander CIC; they posted this news not long before Academy arrived, and now we have Privateer 2 as well, so presumably they know what they are talking about.
Crosmando: GOG should do a special release version for Prophecy using the fan-patch that adds high-definition videos for FMV
That would be awesome. I thought Prophecy was a ton of fun back in the day.
Already got all of them, but still cool.

While you guys have Wing Commander on your mind, any chance we'll ever get the DOS version of WC4 as an option? The DVD version is way too finicky to get running. Not to mention, that'd let Mac gamers play it, and make it portable to other DOSBox environments.

Another nice promo, thank you GOG.
Nice promo. Maybe Academy is too new for a 50%, but due his arena-arcade without story nature... it will sells better being sale with a 50%...
Did Academy not have any bonus content worth bringing? I would have thought the CIC would have been able to help, as I assume they did with the other Wing Commander games.
I would love to get this, but I'm broke ;(

Won't know if I can afford it until the end of the week, after it ends ;O

Maybe during the winter sale :)

I think the only genre of games I've yet to tap into on GOG is space-sims and flight sims in general. ... I don't have any Descent or Freespace titles either >.>...

I'd grab Academy, but even if I started Wing Commander 1 right now I would not be able to get there in a reasonable amount of time. School blows.
I've never been a big flight simulator fan so avoided the Wing Commander games previously; however, I'm curious. What is the best game to start with?

That is a difficult question to answer since the games evolved as tech did. Live actors start with WC3. I (personally) give best story to WC2. Best game mechanics (or at least smoothest) go to WC4. WC1 and WC2 have free expansions which are fun to play as well. Its your call.
I played WC2 back in the day on my dad's work computer and had a pretty good time with it. With Star Citizen coming up, I'm feeling like giving the series a go, though I've heard at least one of the titles "isn't worth it" (can't remember which). I'm not sure I have time to go through all 6 games though. Any suggestions?
