Consider a career in dungeon design!

Legend of Grimrock, the phenomenal dungeon-crawling old-school RPG (now with a built-in Dungeon Editor!), is now available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.49 until Monday, October 8 at 3:59 AM GMT.

Job opportunity! Grimrock Dungeon Ltd. is looking to fill the position of SENIOR DUNGEON DESIGNER. We give you a chance to offer your creative input into the extension and development of the legend of traditional penitentiary facilities: The Grimrock Dungeon. For centuries our facility provided the best services in the area of adventurer detention and we won the "Oubliette Digest" editor's choice award 129 times in a row. At this point we'd like to dismiss the recent rumors about a party of heroes escaping from Grimrock. The said party was in fact a group of professional dungeon auditors, hired by Grimrock Dungeon Ltd. to find the potential security flaws. Their final report inspired staff exchange (our previous Dungeon Designer volunteered to test the new torture chamber) and large-scale dungeon re-design. From our new Senior Dungeon Designer we expect creativity, deviousness, full commitment, and experience in granite stone construction. Sadistic inclinations and a good command of troll language will be regarded as additional assets. We provide weekly wages in gold, rock-solid accommodation, health potions, and wenches. Please apply by raven.

Yes! Legend of Grimrock, the ultimate delight for hardcore old-school dungeon crawling RPGs, has been updated with a Dungeon Editor! All of the traps, pits, monsters, and dead-ends that tormented countless gamers now lie at your fingertips. You can put all of your experience in being tormented by the devious underground into tormenting others with your very own sinister creations. To celebrate the release of this highly anticipated creative addition we are now offering Legend of Grimrock 50% off! That's only $7.49 for the fulfillment of your darkest dungeon crawling desires!

If you already own the game, please head out to My Account, click the Legend of Grimrock box, and download the newest version that includes the Dungeon Editor (accessible from the game's main menu).

Lead a party of adventurers through the perilous depths of moldy dungeons or design your very own adventure in Legend of Grimrock, for only $7.49!
Sigh....

As usual, GOG, you need to hire someone competent in technical matters.

Despite being a flaw for years this has never been fixed (there are many other trivial-to-fix issues like this, but I've given up on your feedback mechanism as it never seems to get to the right people, assuming they exist): If one installs the new version over the old, it doesn't overwrite the game EXE, so you end up with the old version anyway.

Your installer, as usual, checks for the presence of a file when deciding whether to write or not, but not whether it matches in any way shape or form, not any time stamp, not hash, nothing as far as I can tell.

"Solution" I suppose would be to uninstall, keep save game, install using new installer, but let's be honest, nobody wants to pay you to half-ass things.

I buy a lot of games on GOG, but believe me when I say, it's to support of the philosophy behind what you're doing, and *definitely* not your company' technical skill. Please get your software act together at some point.

Thanks

James
Everything awesome!
Not sure if I will get it or not. Not really a creative person and the thing I hate about editors is that I know the secrets of the map/dungeon/puzzle etc that I would build and that would take the fun from it. I would prefer a random map generator or something in games but I don't know. Grimrock looks pretty tempting.

Get it or not? Get it or not? oh now I am confused

Get it, and just play the levels others make. You can play levels from other people. Also, the main campaign is awesome.

Well it's a sale price anyway, so even if you don't use the editor (if you're interested in the game) you're getting the actual game for Fiddy-Percent Off. :P

This too! Is there a sharing or rating system for this game? Is it built-in to the game (like a Trials Evolution thing) or do you have to do like mods and get the files from somewhere?
