Breach....I am disappoint.

Seriously, this has to be my biggest regret of the games I've purchased over the last couple months, even if it was only $10. Now, I like to support small developers, and what I heard before seemed like it would be a really fun game. Also, someone risked going to jail for it, so that also hypes the living shit out of it.

Well, it honestly isn't that fun, plain and simple, and feels like a game from 2004. The controls are sluggish, the cover system is wonky, the aiming is incredibly twitchy no matter how much you adjust the sensitivity. The weapons are severely underpowered and the game just tends to drag, you never feel like you are in a battle....it feels more like I'm playing paintball.

Of course, the inevitable comparisons of MW series and Battlefield series will come into play, but I don't want to compare it directly to them because its going to get torn apart by reviewers based on that. I would really like to know what other people think about this game, and I'm curious if I'm just a minority on this.
It was $20 originally..hmm..

Who risked going to jail for it? Are you sure you're not thinking of Six Days in Fallujah? That's a different game by the same developer. It seems they reworked it with a generic setting.

I reviewed it so fortunately I didn't pay for it. I thought it was blatantly obvious there was nothing special about it, and it plays just as boring as it looks, not to mention terrible movement and the horribly lazy port job (seriously devs, if you're not going to optimize for a given platform, don't bring it to the platform). Be careful next time. :)

I had considered getting this but after reading a few reviews decided against it. Guess the reviews were right.

'Breach' game code theft at PAX East ends in arrest
Breach thief placed on pre-trial probation, must stay off Xbox Live

Also, to be honest, this game reminds me of a UT2k4 mod, which isn't too flattering in 2011.
I have to say that the videos didn't inspire me with any enthusiasm. Then I found out it was a MP online shooter which put me right off, glad I didn't get it

So its sort of like saying "Look how hardcore I am, I stole the sourcecode for simon the sorcerer 3d!"
It even looks below average. It just has that below average cheapness about it. The developer's desperation to make a budget MW have made this all too apparent. Even Blacklight played the part better.

Do people still play Blacklight?
I am going to have to disagree regarding Breach. It is a bit rough around the edges, but I find it appealing for the very fact it is a throwback to older military shooters. The gameplay is slower than your typical arcade military shooter you often find today, requiring more careful, methodical movement instead of running around all willy nilly. It also removes many of the gimmicks found elsewhere, such as regenerative health, kill-streak rewards, etc.

The mouse movement definitely feels a bit sluggish, but that is easily remedied through some tweaks in the Breach.ini file. There, you need to disable mouse filtering and change input scaling to 1. Believe me, it makes a huge difference, as the laggy controls bugged me as well at first. To be honest, I cannot understand why devs always add this crap to games, as it happens in quite a few.

If interested, and to keep this post from getting too long, I did a quick write up about it here, touching on why I liked it and what is wrong with it (sounds, finicky destructible environment). Despite the rough edges though, I personally love it. Then again, I am a big opponent to what CoD and Battlefield have turned into, and enjoy the slower, methodical gameplay. The game definitely isn't for everyone though.

I have no idea. Probably not. The PC version is supposed to be a crappy port and 360 multiplayer is usually largely comprised of eight year olds who have the attention span of goldfish.

Blacklight is slightly worse I think. I've played both PC versions...they're both poor games and worse ports.

They don't add it..the problem is it's a direct 360 port and they do nothing to adjust the controls.

Fair enough. I won't dispute that as I've only seen screenshots and videos. But in those at least Blacklight does look the more high end, polished effort. But appearances certainly can be deceptive which is why I like to get some user feedback before laying down any money.
