So it's not straightforward hex to ascii; a few more hoops left to jump through. The 42 and 41 sequences look quite suspicious.

There's a lot of recurring combinations...

Some geeks found out the first bit is machine code(part 1 of the test), and it was compiled and run to reveal a url to plug into the main "game" site to get the second bit of code(part 2 of the test) which you probably need to compile as well and either run by itself or run with the original set of code to get to....whatever is after that......part 2 hasn't been cracked yet.

Hmm, that's way more advanced stuff than I could possibly handle. With that rather cheap CSI-like design of the site, I was expecting something different.

If you want a good university prank, it's always fun to convince a friend that they're being recruited into the secret service. Some of my friends did it to someone, left a mobile phone nearby that then rang, he answered it, was told he was being recruited and would be contacted later. Then later they arranged for him to have to follow a guy in a trenchcoat who was waiting near the college. He only became suspicious when the guy in the trenchcoat started doing forward rolls down the hill.

If said trenchcoated man was ambling along to THIS then that was possibly more the giveaway than anything else. ;)

The NSA placed a code in a newspaper just to see if anyone could crack it. Then when an autistic boy deciphered the code they sent a hitman after him because they thought the boy was dangerous. So watch out, GOG code breakers.
