bansama: Perhaps sales for 2 were so bad on the console that, in expectation of it happening again, they need to release the next one on the PC as well. That way, when they both do poorly, they can point at the lower PC sales and say, "well it sold better on the console, hence PC gaming is DEAD and full of PIRATE scum!"
Ah yes, widely known as the Capcom strategy.

Navagon: Fable 2 wasn't actually that good from what I've heard. Bags of potential mostly wasted. Which shouldn't be too surprising to anyone who's played a post-Bullfrog Peter Molyneux game.
You heard wrong. Fable II was an excellent game.

hedwards: On a side note, Bullfrog kicked some serious tail. It's a shame they aren't around anymore. Even their bad games were pretty innovative. GoG totally needs to procure their entire catalog post haste.
I couldn't agree more.
Didn't MS already apologise for this? I believe it was mentioned when the head of the entertainment apologised for ignoring the PC while concentrating on the XBOX..

jlg6184: I am not actually sure about the reasoning for the lack of Fable 2 for the PC. I always assumed that it was piracy related as the PC is easier for people with a lack of knowledge to pirate than those with a console.

What I find even more curious than the lack of a PC release for Fable 2, is the planned PC release for Fable 3.
I think Microsoft has been trying to push X360 system and game sales up.

They gave up on the PC, after Shadowrun PC tanked, pretty much. While they are supposedly working on a new version 4.0 for on G4WL and Lionhead is bringing Fable 3 PC here, we'll see where it goes. Hopefully, M$ will improve that G4WL toolbar and service entirely - and oh yeah, fix the save profile disappearance issues. It's nowhere on Steam's level, currently.

And yes - I still think Fable 2 would be welcome on the PC. I'd love to see Halo 3, ODST, and Reach come here. I'd love to see Epic bring Gears 2 and 3 here. I'd still like to see Alan Wake come to the PC, as well.

I think all those games would be perfect for MS to sell directly through G4WL Games On Demand.

I'd be quite shocked if any of the older titles you mentioned ever see the light of day on PC. What would be the point? Going back and spending more development money porting over games that are now several years old...doesn't really make much sense.

Hopefully more of the games show up on the PC from the start from this point forward.
