I will participate because it's a great idea (i like obscure webpages too). Unfortunately planescape is a 9.99 game ;). I actually only participate when i like a contest, not just because i can win something. strangly enough knowing i can win something is not the big draw for me.

Great, then hereby I finish the thread!
I owned like 8 of the 10 and had no interest in the other two, but I bought them anyway to get them in neat DRM free installers.

Take note publishers.

TheEnigmaticT: Hammerfight kicks my butt. ;__;

Wishbone: Yes, it is insanely difficult. I stopped playing it very quickly. Too bad really, as the concept was excellent, and very well done except for the difficulty.

It seems to me that a lot of indie developers make games based on a "modern games are too easy" philosophy. They might be right at that, but they need to be careful not to go too far in the other direction. And variable difficulty settings would allow them to cover a broader spectrum. That's variable as in "easy-medium-hard-insane", not "hard-insane-ridiculous-ludicrous".
What annoys me about Hammerfight isn't so much the game as it is the (admittedly novel) control system. I don't mind if I suck, because with practice, I can get better. With Hammerfight though, it feels like I'm doing awful because of some inherent issue with the controls; when I'm swinging my ship around it feels like I'm fighting the game more than I'm fighting my opponent. Maybe it's just me though...I don't know.
I've only been on the forums for a day, and already I get free games from awesome people.

I think I'm going to like these forums...:3

Chances are your DPI in the game is set wrong. You have to set it so the boundary between "boosting" and smooth flying is in the right spot - you should be able to do both without moving your mouse all that much.

Either extreme results in a hard to handle craft. You'll either be boosting too much or have to throw your mouse around to boost.

The calibration tool should really just be a room with your craft and a slider you control with W and S. Would make it much easier to get the right balance.

I felt the same at first. Try lowering your mouse sensitivity/resolution/whatever. There's a setting for it inside the game. At first, I had to swing my mouse in huge circles, frequently going outside the mouse pad, but after turning the sensitivity down in-game, it felt much better, and reacted to much smaller movements.

Of course, that didn't change the fact that the difficulty of the game itself is much too brutal for my taste, but at least the controls felt sort of natural.

Edit: Oh, ninja'd.
