...my new avatar? I never liked the white bars at the top & bottom of my old one, and stretching it to a square made it look weird. I still use the old one on other sites that allow larger avatars, but scaled down, I wasn't overly thrilled with how it looked here.

Good question. I rarely get asked that, but there is a story behind it.

My first D&D character (not crpg, I mean dice & paper & live people at a table!) was a Dwarf. I needed a name for him (naturally), but knew nothing of D&D and Dwarven names & the like. I was brand new to D&D & had no idea what to name him. So since this was back in the late 80's, I happened to be watching World Class Championship Wrestling on tv when I got a phone call from my best friend (and our DM). He was asking if I'd come up with a name for the Dwarf yet. Well, on that particular episode of WCCW, it was "revealed" that Wild Bill Irwin's real name was....CHAUNCEY!!

Now, this being pro wrestling, of course his real name wasn't Chauncey...but Wild Bill was a "bad guy" and it was just a way of getting the fans interested in him (by heckling & embarrassing him, of course). But Chauncey was the name fresh in my head so I named my dwarf Chauncey and decided his deity was named Klag & that he hailed from a place called Klag's Dale. Thus, his name was Chauncey of Klagsdale.

So when local bbs's became all the rage in the early 90's, I started using Chauncey as my screen name. And when the Internet exploded, I found there were other Chauncey's already online, so I had to change it but didn't want to stray from the name Chauncey (as I did indeed love that grumpy little Dwarf I played for 4 years in D&D), and I upgraded it to ChaunceyK (with the K standing for Klagsdale).

And so now you all know the legend of my screen name. :-)

thanks, that certainly was an interesting read =)
I seem to remember that with "Wild" Bill, wasn't it an episode of WCW Saturday Night when he was teaming with Dutch Mantell?

They could have resurrected it at some point in WCW. There was a period when I wasn''t watching WCW Saturday Night because the action & stories just got so...blah. But I do specifically remember the Sportatorium fans chanting "Chauncey, Chauncey, Chauncey" at Wild Bill, and him getting all upset over it.

Oddly enough, Bill (or rather, William) is actually his middle name...his first name is Barney. I wonder if they first came up with the idea for the fans to call him Barney (and mind you, this was pre-Purple Dinosaur days), and he turned it down in favor of Chauncey.

That is a great name for a Dwarf, and a funny story. I always have trouble coming up with names. It's the reason I'm not a writer.
