It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

HI guys,

I signed up recently and purchased several games but the download speed I'm experiencing is incredibly slow (1-7KB / sec). I already sent a support ticket to GOG but I wanted to ask you guys in advance if you've experienced a similar problem. Especially the Spanish GOG customers.

It looks like GOG uses the EdgeCast CDN to distribute games so it shouldn't be an issue but it seems there's something wrong on one side.

Note: I tried using the GOG download manager, several browsers and external downloaders but the speed is exactly the same.

Thanks!

I think it is the result of the promo - many users have just bought some games and are downloading them. Especially at this time of the day - evening / midnight. You should try to download at other time of the day - for example: early morning.
Yeah, I thought of that but as I haven't seen anyone else posting about any downloading problems, I was a bit suspicious that it might not be a problem for most :(
Try painting go faster stripes on your modem.

But yeah, it's probably just the promo. That said, the website itself does seem to be holding up much better than it used to during promos.
I've noticed a huge difference in d/l speeds depending on the time of day. Late night/early mornings are much faster for me here (US west coast, GMT-8)

And you say you've tried several download utilities, have you tried Free Download Manager? It's simply the best d/l manager I've found. I've been using it for years, and I can't imagine doing big d/l's without it. It's well worth a try.

Yeah, I tried FDM :)

Idk, trying to get an official response from GOG but I hardly doubt DLing at 1KB / second up to 7 KB/ second is normal even under this stress.

I'll keep trying in the meantime.

What are your download speeds?

No, even at my worst I'm getting 20-30k, in the middle of the night as much as 90-100k.

Have you tried disabling your firewall before you download? I've seen that make a pretty extreme difference before.
I'm downloading Sniper Elite at around 200kb/s here which is my cap, but it sometimes jumps to 140 then back up, like some have said, it's probably the promo

I´m downloading Tropico (500 kb/s) at this moment, using the GOG downloader.
In Spain Internet connection is like rail service in the UK, bad and expensive, but it is not that bad... Maybe there was an overload. I´ve experienced the same problem as you when happened all that famous "PR stunt".

Woot! It's now downloading at full speed, so whatever it was it seems to be ok now :/
