Yeah, how dare you raise criticism on this holy ground ?!!
Don't you know that GOG is the best thing that ever existed and that nothing is perfect but That ?!
You will burn in Hell for your impudence. Now go away, so we can keep this place pristine and without criticism !

LOL my rep rating like i care
As others have pointed out, no one is chaining you to a chair and threatening you with a blowtorch. Don't let the door hit ya where the dog should have bit ya.

I'm not going to spend time knocking Steam or Gamersgate, they have their place and are good at what they do.

I will say that I don't find most of GoG's games overpriced at all. Not even the ones available elsewhere as freeware. It's worth it to me to pay a few bucks for a great old game, patched and wrapped for modern boxes, complete with manuals, soundtracks, walkthroughs, etc.

12 downloads, I've had 1 serious glitch. That got answered accurately about 1 hr after I posted, and every game I've bought runs flawlessly on my decidedly sub-par laptop.

Add to that games bought here are truly DRM-free. And a community that is about 80% intelligent and helpful.

It might not be your cuppa, but calling it a "slap in the face??" Just...silly, IMO
Personally, I like choices. I choose not to deal with DRM in the form of Steam or Impulse unless it's a really killer deal on a game I don't really care that much about owning. I choose GamersGate when they have a better deal on something I want at the time. I choose GOG for games I want DRM free at a fair price. I choose other services or retail for various reasons.

Slap in the face? Maybe you're sitting too close to your screen...
As I see it, the slap in the face is more a slap in *your* face, all you blind fanboys who need criticism now and then so you don't end up building an altar to the site out of your own flesh.
I like that the OP mentions Impulse as an example of a service with a great selection and great sale prices. Heh.

Generally, the phrase 'slap in the face' is rarely used by people who deserve to be taken seriously. This is the kind of language you see used by adolescents on MMO boards when the flavor of the month is nerfed or the price of the retail box is reduced.
