I finished watching it yesterday and I don't understand the hate. 4.5 on imdb, really?

Sure, the characters were not the most likeable, but they were ok.

The aliens stealing people brains, not to eat them, but to run on them was a cool concept (puts a whole new spin on aliens coming to Earth for our ressources) as was the heroe being stuck in an alien body and struggling to save his gf and unborn child at the end.

Also, the scene where the fighter was struggling to deliver the nuke was epic.

And the visuals were kinda cool.

Got it for 1.5$ when Blockbuster was closing down and I definitely consider that I got my money's worth. In restrospective, I might even have forked 4$ for it.

Liked it a bit more than Battlefield Los Angeles (which felt like an army recruiting tool, sorry... and besides, human successfully fighting off aliens that are vastly more technologically advanced is getting old and just plain unrealistic).

Yeah, the hate it received kinda puzzled me as well.

I saw this more or less on release, and I was rather glad I did. True, some of the human drama wasn't interesting in the slightest, but it was visually impressive, and created a great feeling of "uh oh, the human race is totally f***ed".

But yeah, it kept me entertained, and I was glad to have watched it.
I'm sorry i have to be honest

i really really hated the film

everything about it was horrible - from the acting to the storyline and dialogue

i really just want to forget i ever saw this horrendous film
I really really disliked most of the characters so I couldn't see the good in the film. The lead plays douchey characters in other films/shows too so it's not so easy to see him as something else.. They also killed Turk off so that didn't go well for me (Scrubs fan).

Well, the black guy and his secretary were definitely on the douche side. I think black characters who do well often (not always, but often) get stereotyped in movies as characters that did well, but never quite got out of the ghetto mindset.

The rest of the characters were your average types with all the flaws that come with that.

For my part, I was happy to see the guy who played Gabe in Six Feet Under not play a total douche for a change.
I agree.

Watched the movie with my family, and thought it wasn't as bad as everyone put it out to be.

Also, Turk from scrubs was in it =]
