Does anyone know if the expansions include DRM?
They have a serial number, and you need EADM to update the games, as far as I know. Don't know if that serial number is online or locally checked though, or if it contains any other kind of DRM.

The serial number check is most likely SecuROM.

SecuROM. :( Very sneaky...they make Sims 3 SecuRom free but make the expansions include SecuROM...

Well not really. Doesn't the base game also have a serial number check?
The main game and expansions have serial numbers, and the game does a disc check.

EADM isn't necessary for patches (they're available for download seperately ) but it is required for other tasks (eg downloading goodies from the store)

It does.

Well then, its either some light serial check, or SecuROM serial check. Could be either, dunno. :)

Launching the game when I installed it on my sis' laptop told me to install EADM for patches. If they are available as a separate download, that's good then.

You do have to be careful to use the appropriate patch for your region - I use the Super Patcher on clean installs.

That page also has links to the incremental patches.
