I'm organising my shelf and was thinking that it'd be good to have a function to have a tick graphic or something for games on my list I've completed. Also I'm organising my games by types, could really do with that as well and a function to manually add another empty shelf.

Anybody else got any ideas? Not seen any topics like this for a bit and it seems like the by type thing in particular has been a wanted feature for a while now.
The GOG shelf? Not sure. Maybe the ability to put some custom graphic art.

I like the idea about a completed check.
The shelf is absolutely horrible when you try to sort a larger number of games manually. Here's a very simple idea that shouldn't be too hard to implement: When moving a game, give us the option to drop it in between two other games (leaving the ordering of the other games in place) instead of only allowing to swap two games. That would drastically reduce the number of moves required to sort your library.

Oh SHELF! I thought it said "self", I was coming in with ideas about bionic knees & elbows...

As for the GOG shelf, the ability to tick off completed games would be nice. Some manner of auto-sort by type or similarity would be cool, so you could get all the D&D games lined up next to each other for example

We've already done that topic a while back ;). (I didn't start it)

Especially when your count of games reach three-digit numbers.

A custom sort field for each game would solve that, I believe, as well as being adaptable to however the user wants to sort their games.

Multiple shelves would be nice. Then you could sort by genre if you like, or have one (set) for finished games and one for those you've only started etc.

Better functtionality for sorting manually would also be greatly appreciated, like the ability to 'insert' instead of 'swap' as mentioned above.

I'd also like an option to group games (graphically presented as a stack of partly overlapping covers?) so that I could move them around as one unit, and also keep them together. (Optional) automatic grouping could place all the games from the same series together for instance, e.g. HoMM and its sequels.
GOG would know when you last downloaded a game, right? So how about as and when they update games they stick a sticker on the box on our shelves, much like the 'new' one, that let's us know to re-download it.
The possibility to create custom 'categories' to list and sort games under woulb be nice.

So we could, say, create a 'completed' category, or a 'dosbox' category, or categories by gerne... well, you get the idea

... basically what the glorious pH7 said :)

Nice idea. Could colour code the shelves accordingly too.

Yes! That's been bugging me for quite a while - I've currently been here close to two years and own 160+ games (not including free ones) and so far I've noticed only two updates (more or less by sheer luck), one for Arcanum and the other for Witcher 2 (ok - that wasn't as easy to miss..), but how many updates/additions have I missed?

I've been thinking about writing a small program I can run once a month or so, just to compare my downloaded goodies to those being available for (re-)download. But I can't download all the installation files - it's almost 180GiB by now..

As a minimum I'd really like to be notified by PM or e-mail when such updates occur.

That's the thing. All I know for sure is that there are quite a few games that need updates for GOG to uphold it's 'working on modern systems' aspect of its service. They're supposedly working on it, but how can we know for sure what's been done and what's left to do?
