In other news: CD Projekt just announced that they joined the gaming hardware business and their first series of products will be graphic cards capable of handling 64 bit color. A spokesperson has already confirmed cooperation with Microsoft to ensure that Windows 9 will support the corresponding color modes.
"We are really excited about this" said CD Projekt's Michał Nowakowski at a press conference yesterday. "32 bit color is perfectly fine if you want to provide a colorful experience for children but here at CD Projekt we make mature products for mature audiences. And if there is something that the success of The Witcher has shown it's that mature means grey. And if you want a really grey, pardon, mature experience you need a much larger range of shades of grey. That's why we feel that 64 bit color has finally become a necessity. After all, The Witcher 3 is going to be the next generation in mature gaming."
When asked whether this technology will find use outside of The Witcher 3 he responded: "Of course, among others our R&D department is cooperating very closely with the GOG.com team. Our goal is to make GOG the first website on the whole internet to make full use of the greyness that 64 bit color depth allows. Maybe the games aren't old but the website sure will look like it. Because, you know, in the past everything was grey. Any old picture is proof of that."
When asked what 64 bit means for all the other colors that aren't grey he replied: "Well, we haven't really thought about it much. We may use some of the less saturated reds for blood effects but we can't make any promises for now."
