years ago I picked up a game called Shadowcaster on floppy ---- well it never ever did load right no matter what PC or what I tried to do so got to a certain part in game and never could go any further ----- so what is the chance of this game getting to GOG ???? I really liked this game and still have it along with every other game I ever bought.

1. It was an Origin Systems game, first person based on shapeshifting, right?

I played the hell out of it back in the day.

However, there are a few things you should know about GOG. They don't really give out information for releases in advance, but they tend to do announcements. The Wing Commanders are here, so the chances for another Origin game to show up are probably decent, but I'd be patient and keep checking. You never know what GOG is up to next.

Also, while you wait, you can add it to this thread: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/official_beg_thread_this_game_belongs_on_gog

Or on the wishlist here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_com_features_wishlist

In the mean time, enjoy the community!
Wow, never heard of it, but looks great.

Origin, Raven and id soft engine. It's like Ultima Underworld + Heretic.
I really can't see how this could be bad.

Yeah, it was great under-rated gem, imo. Definitely worth checking out if you can find it and are good with DOSbox.
Didn't Shadowcaster eventually come out on CD-ROM? Or is my memory getting fuzzy?

It's actually a pretty decent game. I can't really recall any really "bad" Origin games. They had that magic back in those days...

Yes, it did.

"The CD-ROM enhanced version features enhanced redbook audio narration, two new levels, and 3D rendered cutscenes."

It was extremely linear, there wasn't much of a challenge, and not much of a storyline either. I was rather disappointed after finishing it, because from an Origin game I had expected an actual storyline (as in Ultima Underworld) and generally more depth. Shadowcaster doesn't provide that. However, it was a decent FPS game for its time. People who enjoyed Heretic will probably like Shadowcaster.

Side note: I don't think Origin had actually anything to do with this game except publishing it. It's very different from the story-driven, lore-rich worlds that Origin used to create.

Everything's awesomer when you're a kid. :-D
This was one game I really, really enjoyed, and still play :)

I may be wrong, but I thought you could still buy Shadowcaster from Raven Software's website?
Raven has the game listed in their Games page but I did not see a purchase link...

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought you could buy it there.

Just asking...is Abandonia a good place to get DOS games?

That's up to you to decide since abandonware is not exactly legal ....
