I forgot that the XL model was more expensive, it will probably be the same price (>200$/€). Dear lord, i seriously don't get why people shit on other companies but when it comes to Nintendo (no charger with XL model, region lock, terrible online system even if free, they don't make good promotions outside the buy console get free game, exclusive games for new console models, there's some complications if you lose your console and want your account/games back, europe gets screwed with game delays, etc) and yet Nintendo is the best company EVER because... reasons...

This will also be the case with the New standard model.

yeah i always found it suspicious that nintendo seems to get a free pass for their practises
especially the incessant updates to their mobile machines
and insane price tags for their machines and first party software

but it sells so they can get away with it

personally i keep hoping that the wii U debacle is a eyeopner for them
so far not so much

Bah, i don't even care anymore, the original 3DS was the last console that i will ever buy from them, they can make really good games from their ip's but i still consider them overrated and glad that their consoles aren't selling, maybe it will make them change their ways...

I knew that the XL didn't had one, i remember people talking about that but i thought that they stopped being cheap and actually included in the 2D model and well, the upcoming one...

The funny thing is that 2DS does have a charger. :P

maybe they expect you to buy the 2DS first as a gateway machine and then be so enamoured by it you rush out to buy a new XL ?

How it should work:

Expensive console = more stuff because the client paid more
Cheaper console = Less stuff because the client paid less

How it actually works:

Expensive console = less stuff because poor Nintendo can't afford to exceed the budget.
Cheaper console = more stuff because you already have an ugly console so why not?

And yes, i know that 2DS doesn't have 3D...

I like the new 3DS because it now has a little nub of a second joystick controller, but it'll probably be too rich for my blood. I'm going to take a wait and see attitude because I got burnt with the DSi.
My blue 3DS is working well enough and I even splashed out on the Circle Pad! ;)

I had a transparent GBA, so the new 2DS scheme is a rather attractive option for me. The only real problem is I already have an XL I adore, oh, and I don't have any munny. On top of that I am also planning on buying Witcher 3 and Monster Hunter four, hey, that's $100 right there. But I don't like playing the 3DS when riding in the car because I'm afraid the hinges will break, so it makes sense to also get a 2DS. That said, it's a pretty color.
