I just purchased the DVD version of Schizm and trying to run it on my laptop running Windows 7. The laptop is a Inspiron and does not have a separate graphics card. I get sound and starup page, but don't see any video just black screen. I have read that others have been able to run the game on Windows 7.

You haven't actually said what the problem is (or even that there is a problem). What are you actually asking?

Hmm, I see that you edited in a description of your problem. I have the CD version, which is probably about the same (if not the same), so I'll try to try it out on my laptop soon.
Thank you. It would be nice to get it running.

id like to know the outcome to! missed playing this game!
Installing it now. Wikipedia does say that the CD version is different from the DVD version and this forum conversation doesn't give much hope since the publisher admitted that there was a problem when running in Vista/Windows 7 and promptly folded.

EDIT 1: It did work on my desktop running Windows 7 Pro x64 with an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295 (256 MB) and 191.81 drivers. I will install on my laptop tomorrow.

The CD version works right out of the install with no additional changes necessary.
Sorry I can't help you get the DVD going. I don't have that version of the game.
DVD version worked on the computer I tried. I'll try it on the laptop soon.
DVD version is working for me on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and on a Windows XP SP3.

What is your graphic's card? All drivers up to date?

edit: the GPUs i tried area a Radeon HD 6550 M and an incredibly shitty Intel GMA 450.

DVD version runs fine on my laptop with no special card that I know of. It runs Windoes 7 x64 Home Premium SP 1 and has an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 (whatever GPU it came with).

I ask as Menelkir does, what is your graphics card and is it up-to-date?
Bumping this thread because I'm having a similar problem.

When I start a new game, I can hear the voiceover and see captions, but the intro video isn't visible. When I move between areas, only a sliver on the bottom of the screen is updated, with the rest of the screen either being black or displaying an image of the previous area. The same thing happens when I switch between the characters. Bringing up the help menu and closing it sometimes allows me to see things again (but only until I transition to a new screen), although sometimes it has no effect and sometimes it only displays the half of the screen.

I've tried various compatibility modes to no avail. Running the game with 256 colors alleviates this problem, but it messes up some of the game's colors (most noticeable in the main menu and bar containing the help, save, load, etc. options that appears when you move your mouse to the top of the screen). It also results in some graphical anomalies.

I'm playing the CD version on a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium, an Intel i5-2430M CPU @2.40 GHz, 6 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M updated to driver version 301.42 (the latest version).
