Hey all

I'm hoping that someone can help me. I've recently pulled by x52 out of storage to play FS2 and IW2 however it appears to not calibrate correctly anymore.

When I test the movement and buttons everything works however the main joystick does not hit the all the edges of the text box. What this means while playing is that the ship move normally in some directions however slowly in others.

Any advice or other people with this problem?

Regards

Karl

Have you installed the right drivers ?

go here : http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php
select the "product type" ( right drop down menu ) only : "Joystick"
select X52

( warning : if you go through the left drop down menu, they only propose the X52 pro drivers, that are not fully compatible with the X52 and will vause mapping problems )
Yeah, I've tried new drivers however no difference.

I did see something about a Saitek calibration utility however I have been unable to find a download for this.

Karl
The X52 is in principle calibrating automatically. That's why one needs to be careful when installing drivers : cleaning any older / obsolete driver, installing the new one and only pugging the JS when prompted to do so

you can always chechk the "game controller" in your configuration panel. Does it show correct centering and axis movement .

Another thing to try : where do you connect your usb cable : directly to the computer or to usb hub ? Try connecting to another usb port , preferably directly to the computer.

Now, I don't want to sound negative, but the X52 had quite a few issues with both its circuitry and the spring parts. The second issue tended to develop over time and would end up with a non functionnal x-axis symptom.

Had a similar issue when I wanted to use my Logitech after a long break but it was potentiometers issue and X52 doesn't have them...
I guess you better take a look inside and see if sth is loose or sth...
I found such tutorials - they give you overview of what is inside

Lol, that's another solution : rebuilding the thing.

I'm happy I Kept my old X45 and didn't buy the X52 pro as an upgrade.
I'm terrified of pulling it apart. I can't afford to replace it.

I really like the x52 and the other HOTAS don't appeal so much.

I've trying clearing the calibration information from the registry as well as uninstalling the drivers, rebooted and reinstalling. So doesn't centre correctly. I'm guessing it must be something inside is screwy.

Which means I'm back to the original issue of opening it. I guess I'll have to have a look and see what I can find.

So I did it. pulled it open and removed the magnet holders and stuck them directly below the sensor. Works a lot better now.

I think I'll try the CD stack lid mod next :)

Edit: Also it was very simple to do the internal alterations. Took me about 5minutes and I don't regret it at all.
