Anyone know if a save from the disc version of gold will work with the GOG version of gold?

I don't have the original disc, but you could help by mentioning:
a) Was the game's original save folder a subfolder in the game's directory called "save"?
b) Were the save files in question .PAK and .pax files like GAME01.PAK, GAME.02.PAK, hero06.pax and hero07.pax?
If both are correct, then it's the same case with GOG's Sacred Gold.
