I know why you threw it away, because even keeping something precious will lead to keeping so much that is not. Still, I might find a way to keep that one, tape it in a scrapbook, journal, or your favorite book.

When my ex left she left a pile of garbage in the house that came above my shins (I'm really not exaggerating either). She dumped our 11 years of crap that had been shoved into boxes on short notice moves, stuff that I liked, papers that used to be important but had expired, all of it all over the floor.

It took me two weeks of hard work, every night for hours after work (until bed in fact) and all day on weekends to sort through and clear it all out and clean up stuff she'd not cleaned for months (like her very own bathroom, so she didn't have to share my "gross" one, lol!).

Then I started in on my own shit. I have months left of leisurely sorting, but I like my life a lot better and I still have tons of my geeky stuff. Sometimes it's okay to packrat a bit, nice plastic tubs to store it in are a pittance at Walmart or whatever so it's not like it has to be strewn all over or stacked haphazardly in disintegrating cardboard boxes.

There was a time when I could fit everything I owned into my Hyundai Excel. I don't really want to be like that again but really I don't need that much stuff, it doesn't make you happy, not by itself, anyway. I'd rather have a few really nice things than a lot of junky stuff anyway.

eyeball226: p.s. You seriously haven't had a floppy drive since 1999? I was still using floppy discs for school work in 2003! Also... I still have a floppy drive now.
It may have actually been 2000, I know for sure that I'd dumped the floppy by the time I built my first 1GHz system and that was definitely in 2000.

In any event, more than a decade without a floppy drive and I've never once regretted it (well okay one time but red storm rising was on 5.25s anyway and there was home of the underdogs...)

I dumped my last one the minute I was done with Win 2000.
Emotional attachment is for pussies.
