Army Men RTS has unlimited resources so long as you have enemies because you can melt them down and use them for building material. And yes, I wrote that without laughing.

But I didn't read that without laughing :D
Homeworld got an unlimited (well, nearly) resources mode: 999999 Resources will be injected to eavery player every minute, in combination with unlimited army size this gets fucking epic!
Well, maybe my question is such because I'm rather more a TBS player than a RTS player, and when I pay RTS I play more "turtling" strategy with slow development and strong defence. Thence my dislike for time limits and finite resources.
I remember well my disappointment when I was playing Warcraft 2 (long ago when I was young and innocent :) ) and I always hear this "BOOOM" when my gold mine crumbles...:)

And I like RTS with landscapes, trees, rivers and such, maybe fantasy, maybe sci-fi... No space, no WWII and such, please! :)

I bought both KKNDs here on GOG but still haven't given them a good try.

Total Annihilation. Especially if you choose a metal-coated planet.

Edit... didn't even notice you mentioned this in your FIRST POST. Uber-ninjaed... like, as if a man wearing a T-Shirt that said "Ninja" walked loudly up to me in broad daylight and slapped me with a fish. Wearing flippers. And bells.

Ogre Battle 64 has no resources (expect for units, characters, equipment, etc.).

It's actually a strategy-RPG, but it's probably the pureest strategy game I've played, combat-wise. It's pure macro-management, no micromanagement - all strategy, no tactics. The only micromanagement is in terms setting up your units and characters (characters are grouped in units).

I highly recommend Ogre Battle to anyone who wants a REAL real-time stategy game, and is sick of the action/sports games that are labelled as "real-time strategy" today. Strategy should be a cerebral challenge, not a physical challege. Strategy is about decision-making, not skills and reflexes.

Though ironically, the resource management aspect of many so-called "RTSes" is the main thing that characterizes them as strategy. Otherwise, I think they are just action games. It's mostly a twitch genre now, thanks to Starcraft.
Empire Earth. Resource mines technically are not infinite, but you have to play a really, really long game to exhaust them.
