eyeball226: I'm not sure how you could mess up your computer... mess up the game maybe (but that's why you back up the exe before messing with it). I could make you an .ips patch but mine is the original UK version and as yours is from the US it's different (they changed the names of some rides and things to localise it for America).
I've changed some files about the main core of the game, then opened it and welcomed the game completely broken. After deinstallation I've found few parts of my HDD formatted ;)

But, hey, the world belongs to courage ones. I'll try!

Wow, you have really terrible luck. My sympathies!

I don't want to pressure you into doing something against your better judgement though.

GameRager: Did you ever try www.widescreengamingforum.com ? They might have a resolution fix to get it running in high res. Worth a try at any rate.

Sephirath: Unfortunately, nope - http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/Rollercoaster_Tycoon . But playing in the windowed mode is still hot ;)
First, get it running in a window (which you've said you've done). Once done you should in fact be able to resize the window. It doesn't change the scale of the game, it just allows you to see more contents, so this is effectively allowing you to play with more pixels and in widescreen and as it doesn't rescale the contents of the window you get to see more of your park! This worked for me on both RCT1 and RCT2 when using WinXP. I've not tried it with Vista or Win7 though.

That's the reason the resolution hack works, the game supports any resolution up to 1280x1024, it just doesn't list them in the options. All the hacking does is add them to the list.
