Lefter, Madame!
It's probably just PR speak, but the Xbox guy doesn't actually say it's a timed exclusive. He keeps saying he doesn't own the "franchise" and when he's asked directly about whether Rise of the Tomb Raider will come to other platforms he makes an example of a few games that will get a PC version a year after release but will not get a PS4 version. Saying the exclusivity has a "duration" could mean that it only applies to this game but not the sequels (like with Titanfall not being allowed to come out on PS4 even though the sequel can).

Granted it's in his interests to manipulate people into panicking and buying an Xbox One, so he's not going to say anything to reassure PC and PS4 owners to just wait for it, but I'm still cautiously detached until somebody officially says what platforms the game will be on and when it will come out for each one.
I love it how whenever I fear I have to buy a game at release and for the full price - something I really hate to do - just because I feel it deserves my unconditional support, something disappointing happens that makes my support less unconditional and ultimately saves me some money.

Maybe that says more about me than about anything else. but still, you can always rely on it. ;)

Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome are both heading to the PC despite being repeatedly promoted as Xbox exclusives; I wouldn't expect this new Tomb Raider game to be any longer than that.

I'm glad to hear that it will be on 360, not a great future for releases on that console so its a nice surprise.

Exactly -- the PC version comes out over a year later, and there is no PS4 version. Judging by the reported sales figures, most fans of the previous Tomb Raider game were on PS3 or PS4, so they might get screwed over and not be able to play the sequel. I plan to get it on PC eventually (assuming a PC version of course) but it's still messed up to put the first rebooted game on all three (or rather five) major platforms and then cut some of them out for the sequel.

Can it really be called disappointing then? :P

Good point, but I guess there's still a bit of hope left in me that I'll be surprised one day, so it's still disappointing when it doesn't happen, no matter how predictable it was. ;)

(If you were referring to the 'disappointment you can rely on', that is. Or were you referring to saving money? Yes, that's the good side effect of it; I don't have to break with my usual spending habits and can keep believing that I would unconditionally throw my money at them, if they would deliver under my conditions, heh.)

That is true, even if it does come onto PC later on it is still a huge kick in the nuts to Playstation users that brought the first game even twice in some cases where the truly Definitive edition of the game was on PS4.
