RPS turned me onto this. Anyone's younger self ever go spelunking with Rick? I never did, but I must say that for a 23-year old platformer with only five inputs, the control is pretty sublime. I've been playing for an hour and haven't even gotten out of stage 1, constantly killed by bullshit. And it is definitely bullshit. Against all sanity, however, I like it. It's Limbo all over again.

(On second thought, I guess Limbo would be Rick all over again...)

I played it 20 years ago, over and over again... I think I made it to stage 2 or 3 after months of trying :)

Might give it a shot again *g*

I felt I had to share for posterity's sake, though I imagine that many people will prefer their glasses rose-tinted.
One of the best-looking games on C64...
Ah, XRick. Played it years ago on Linux, and it wasn't a patch on the original RD at the time, but I might give it another crack.

I wonder if the author will consider using the engine to remake RD2?
I played them a couple of years after the release I think, never got very far though.
I did like the games though, mostly because of the graphics I think.

I think I used a trainer to play this on the Amiga back in the day because the game was just so impossibly hard. I loved the music and art design though.
my goodness lol - I played this on my Amstrad cpc 6128, it came on tape :)

thanks for the memories +1 rep
Oh this was a PAINFUL game to play back on the ZX Spectrum.

Niiiiiiiiiice! <3
Nice, but I kind of hoped something like "Rick Dangerous 1+2 soon on GOG!"
I still think it's one of the most overrated, fueled by rose tinted nostalgia glasses, games ever. It looked great, the gameplay mechanics were shite.
Looks like a fish, moves like a fish, steers like a cow.

In other words, Never again. ;)

There is already a freeware remake out for the 2nd game.
