The game was pretty damn fun! Too bad it was bugged and not quite complete when I played it on release and after the first month, I got screwed over because it turned out my account was American due to the beta, and the free month was added to this, but the retail copy of mine was European and NC Soft wouldn't transfer my account to an European one despite it being their stupid website that made the error by letting me set my free month on an American site. Suddenly, after the free month I tried to pay and it gave an error about me living in Europe *facepalms*. So I had to stop playing then and lost all my work of the first free month. Haven't payed for a single NC Soft game since.

you know what annoys me about the whole thing? If it had been released a year later and sales had dropped like they did it would just have been made F2P -.-
Yeah it's a shame it died - and so quickly too! It's not that the game was flawless, but it was never given a chance to iron out those flaws and with WoW basically domineering the market at the time, it had a hard time competing.

By the time I jumped on (around August '08, I think) none of the flaws I'd heard so much about were present. People who had been around since launch told me the developers had managed to iron out pretty much every major flaw since then, but unfortunately it was too late by then.

Damn, their instances were good. And the music. And the *armor design*.
I knew about the royal family name but when did he become doctor?! Guy still rocks lol.
happening tonight :)

-> grynn, I believe he got an honorary PhD from QMUL last summer
I, too, loved Tabula Rasa. Was there from beta to the point they switched the servers off. I wonder if he'll ever address how things ended with it, with the backstabbing, the forged letters, the lawsuits and all that....
Lord British lost what remained of my respect when he started talking about facebook shitty "games". I don't give a fuck about his "speech" anymore, these days....

He lost your respect because he mentioned the subject that revolutionized the way games are being designed, perceived, and played more than anything else in the last 10 years? Wow.

I mean, one can of course disagree about these games in lots of ways, but but they _of course_ are being mentioned in speeches. On the last two GDCs (Games Developer Conferences), facebook games and their effect on the industry and on gaming in general was the single biggest topic.
