That only changed because she accidentally let my little brother play Halo, and I pointed that out to her and she finally decided to let my dad, who does play games, decide what games we could play.
The old "rot your brains" argument.......bet'cha she let you watch tv while not letting you play games then, eh?

Also, I bet she would've loved Jack Thompson.

I was allowed to play games on the PC, and watch TV, she just thought getting another gaming console would be bad or something. Although if you can break through a few of those blocks she's fairly reasonable. I've bitched about the whole California video game laws to her.

That's the thing....she thought console rotted the mind, yet she allowed you to watch tv, and still play on the pc....both of which parents ALSO think rot the mind. Even in her semi-ignorance she failed.

Of course my mom was semi ignorant herself while I was growing up......couldn't go far cuz the neighborhood kidnappers/muggers club was snatching kids off of doorsteps in broad daylight or something.

Runehamster: No, I'm playing the PS2 version. Apparently it's a pretty faithful port of the GameCube version, but with slightly muddier textures and dumbed down lighting. Still good for me though, since I haven't seen the GameCube version. Ironically, although my PS2 is backwards compatible, I'll probably end up buying the GameCube remakes of Resident Evil 1 and 2.

Rohan15: The PS2 has more content actually. There are a few weapons, extra missions, and bonuses you can get on the PS2 version. Beat both, loved it.
The wii version has even more content and no crappy lighting and textures plus it has pointer controls. You can use the GC controller to if you want.

Oh, yeah. I love how a conversation about suggesting horror games turned into how our parents raised us and whether we were allowed to have a game comsole or not while growing up.

There is nothing that says 'good parenting' like buying a six-year-old Grand Theft Auto or Resident Evil or Doom 3 or Fallout, then spanking him if he says a naughty word.

Well in America usually violence is somehow ok but swears and nudity is not......watch the SouthPark film for a good bit of comedy on the matter.

You'd think that they might think twice about buying their kid a game named after a felony, rather than buy it and then freak out over the violence in it.
