adaliabooks: Xenoblade Chronicles, one of my favourite games, came out nearly three years ago now. Since I completed it I've been meaning to replay it, especially before the sequel comes out next year. But it's looking less and less likely that I will get the time when I have so many new games to play instead.
I've seen a few people post on here saying they don't really replay games, or that they've played certain classics dozens of times. So I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on replaying games?
I used to replay quite a lot of games, Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Final Fantasy V, Chrono Trigger. These days I rarely do, and I imagine it's mostly down to time. But there are some games I wouldn't even consider playing through again, and not even because I didn't like or enjoy them, whether it's because the story wouldn't have the same impact second time around or because I would know the answers to all the puzzles.
Do you replay games? What would make you replay a game, and what would stop you?
I do replay certain titles over and over. Usually once a year or once in two years.
These titles include Fallout 1+2, Gabriel Knight series, Arcanum, Deus Ex, System shock 2, Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines, Knights of the old republic 1+2, Mass Effect series and maybe some other titles I can't remember now, but the listed are just those I actually do play regularly. It just comes one day that I just feel like it's time once again :D. But I've also played other games more than once with less regularity.
It's usually great story or lots of variety that makes me play a game this much. A lot of the titles among the ones I mentioned provide both.
In fact, whenever I buy new pc, I install one of the mentioned titles and it stays installed until it's time to get a better machine. For example I have Theme hospital installed not because I'd play it like every day but because I feel like it wouldn't feel right if I did not have that Theme Hospital icon on my desktop :D
