It takes great power to fight an occult menace. It takes girl power.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, the mystery-filled sixth chapter in the saga of Lara Croft, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

The reports of miss Croft's death were greatly exaggerated. Yes, her clash with an angry Egyptian deity left her scarred--both physically and mentally--but she's still very much alive and kicking. And there's plenty of butts to kick, now that she's back. The "to kick" list opens with the person who murdered Lara's mentor and framed her for the crime. That's one. A whole order of occultists, with a dark scheme originating in the middle ages. That's two. And what about the cheeky mystery man, the daring treasure hunter Kurtis Trent? Will he meet the tip of Lara's trekking boot as well, or will he prove to be a valuable ally?

With Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness the saga of Lara Croft takes a turn towards mystery, conspiracy, and occult and away from the usual tomb raiding. A plot full of twists and surprises follows the usual female protagonist, this time accompanied by a second playable character, Kurtis Trent, the last descendant of an ancient order, wielder of the fearsome Charugai Blade. Many new moves and attacks--including stealth assassinations--were added to the game's mechanics to spice up the cinematic storyline with exciting action.

Unravel the evil conspiracy that's been threatening mankind since the middle ages in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness for only $9.99!

tfishell: ...if they keep up with 2-a-day releases...
Agree, that will be nice.
$9.99!! Really? This game isn't even worth $2.99. GOG, what are you thinking? Discount this puppy right now and you might actually make some money on it.

If they can get the Peter Connelly soundtrackas bonus content, then it'll be worth $9.99. As is now, I think it's more a 6.99 game.
Nice, thanks for the three Tomb Raider releases, GOG. Digitally, these are only available at GOG I guess. :-)

For me $30 is too much, I'll buy it at a 33%+ off sale.

anjohl: Only ones that matter are Anniversary and on, as Anniv. is a great remake of the original title.

Bah. There is a such a thing as progress. Gaming is not archival, it's entertainment. Tomb Raider aniversary will bring back the fondest memories you have of playing Tomb Raider 1 better than replaying Tomb Raider 1 will, trust me.

Well, I know the new series by Crystal Dynamics better than the original one, and as a matter of act the first Tomb Raider that I fully enjoyed was Legend, although I had checked out almost every TR beore that. But seriously, these series are so different - that there's some connections in content doesn't mean that Anniversary just "replaced" the original game. They are totally different games in almost all aspects. :P
Whhy would GOG release and obviously beta Tomb Raider game? What's next? Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing on GOG?

So bad it's good! (You know people could buy that infamous title.)
One of the blues commented a while ago that Summer sales are always kind of slow, no matter what they do, so they're taking the opportunity to release games that weren't going to be best sellers, anyway. In that context, this release makes sense, and I like to see GOG release all the games of a franchise once they start, so no complaints from me; it's not like I don't have other games to play, books to read, things to do.

(Ultima 9 has been confirmed for later this month, presumably on the same principle).

Besides, it's good to have the game here, even if it's only for the sake of completeness.

This. :)

I like to have all titles from a series in the same place, this way you can play them at their sequence, and ease of use.

I really can't say it any better than that.

I agree. The original games are tedious to play (i tried them recently). But the PS2 era Tomb raider games by crystal dynamics are alot better.
Well if you don't want to get it due to the control issues you should at least get it for it's amazing soundtrack and gripping storytelling. It's actually the best in the series for story and soundtrack, just not for gameplay sadly.

I've played all the newer TR's, and most of the old ones, and Anniversary is definitely my favorite of the entire franchise. They really nailed that one. I'm very much looking forward to its eventual GOG release - well, I'd be surprised if it wasn't released here.
