One delightful pirate reunion

We have launched a new developer today--Telltale Games, the finest purveyor of episodic adventure games--and we’re starting off with three fantastic adventures: Sam & Max Save the World, Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space, and Tales of Monkey Island. All three games are on a huge "Welcome to GOG" sale for Telltale, and will be 60% off until 3 July.

Tales of Monkey Island, a game full of pirates, voodoo, and Guybrush Threepwood, is available for the next 7 days with a huge 60% discount--that’s $13.99 for the game with wallpapers, avatars, high-res artworks, developer commentary videos and more goodies.

Tales of the Monkey Island is the fifth game in the beloved Monkey Island series. The game follows fair-haired Guybrush Threepwood who, along with his new wife Elaine Marley-Threepwood, finds himself on a new adventure. This time, our heroes are on a goal to destroy two things: Guybrush's arch-nemesis--the zombie pirate LeChuck--and a voodoo pox that Guybrush accidentally unleashed upon the world. The entertaining story, stunning visuals, clever puzzles, and faithful adherence to the original Monkey Island games earned a lot of praise from critics and great commercial success as well. Tales of the Monkey Island is available on sale for $13.99 until Tuesday, July 3 at 6:59 AM EDT. Be sure to check out the other Telltale Games releases today, all of which are on sale for until 3 July.

If you’re a fan of old-school adventure games or a pirate (YARRRRRR!) you don’t really need any recommendation for and Tales of Monkey Island for $13.99.

It's nice to see a Monkey Island game here on GOG.com, always love this series.

Bloodygoodgames: I just finished the Blackwell Bundle and wasn't that impressed. By the end of the second game, I was bored stiff and really didn't want to play the third at all. There's too much walking around, a lot of not particularly interesting dialogue, nor is it funny, and the what was an 'original' premise in the first game, by the third gets very old.

Unfortunately, the bundle put me off those kinds of games so much I ended up taking Resonance off my wish list. I couldn't image playing 15 HOURS of something like that. The only thing the third Blackwell had going for it, IMO, was it was short :)

But....I'm in the middle of the first Sam and Max and it's fast-paced and hilarious. Beautifully written game and extremely fun to play.
Well, too each his own. I personally loved the Blackwell games, and found Sam & Max Season 1 merely "OK" with a lot of the humor seemingly forced. Season 2 is much better IMO, and its 4th episode is a masterpiece right up there with the best of classic LucasArts.
Great games but too expensive. Not paying more than $9.99. Althou I think I may add this game to my wishlist in near future.
Dang, for a minute I was like "yeah, finally LucasArts joined GOG!". Only later I noticed that Telltale not only developed these games but also seems to have all the necessary rights for these entries. Well, one can dream...

And btw: 13.99$ after a 60% discount? This is madness! Madness I say!
Welcome to GOG Telltale. Nice to see you at here with your games :)
Any chance for whole Monkey Island series?
To those who loved the old Monkey Island games, this comes recommended. Telltale gets a bad rep for the more "casual" style games they've been putting out lately (Back To The Future, Jurassic Park etc.), but don't let that stop you from checking this out. This is NOT a QTE-type game or anything like that. This goes for Sam & Max as well.

Not a bad deal for 13.99, but the full price of 34.99 is a bit crazy. Come on Telltale/GOG, you can make us a better deal than that.

I wish they would give a discount to those who already own these games on Steam / Telltales site, but it's a good deal for the newcomers.
Since i already own them on Steam / Telltale

That would require LucasArts to stop being dicks....

I hear that it's still pretty toasty in the warmest hotel not on earth....
oh so wait crap , lucasarts isn't even letting telltale games to do another monkey island?

While I like supporting GOG, I also like supporting Telltale Games.

I guess this release must be good for both parties, renewing interest in the franchise from a new source of publicity.
Cool.

If you don't have it, BUY IT.

Fun games. :)

That's putting it too strongly. The gist of that forum conversation is that the people writing it think they know what they are talking about, but in reality, it's all just gossip.
I seriously doubt the Monkey Island is dead,
Honestly, I have had enough MI and I don't really care one way or the other, and I still think that it isn't dead.
Like it or not, it's one of the most iconic, most recognizable video game franchises in the PC gaming landscape.
Of course, this is just my own gossipy opinion, but is it any less valid?

Here's what I wrote in the KOTORII thread about LucasArts and stuff...

This sounds like the situation with respect to Monkey Island as well and why there is not another season of Tales of Monkey Island:

Future of the series
In November of 2011, when CEO of Telltale games Dan Conners was asked a question about another season of Monkey island, he replied "I wish we had the rights to do more Monkey but we don't. Right now what I gather is LA is focused on building AAA titles internally but honestly we don't talk much these days."

Rather sad situation frankly and with that attitude I doubt we'll see any old LucasArts classics on GOG any time soon....

Okay this isn't "just some people writing it think they know what they are talkign about" ... this is the CEO of TTG writing on the forums...

http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=562002&postcount=23

TTG don't have any rights to do more Tales of Monkey Island ... and it sounds like their relationship with LucasArts has soured with LA focusing on AAA titles rather than their old IP.

This does appear to line up with reality given what they have revealed game-wise and with the pretty sudden stop in releasing/refreshing their old franchises on Steam.
