In space, no one can hear you "like".

Redshirt, a strategic social simulation with a dash of science fiction flair, is now available on GOG.com for just $19.99.

Life in the future will probably not look like the serial SF TV shows of yore: computers are already smaller than a tricorder, we have access to the world's most complete database of wisdom and knowledge and generally use it to argue with people we will never meet and look up photos of cats with misspelled captions, and humanity won't manage to ascend to egalitarian greatness as long as we have social media to distract us.

Enter Redshirt: it's a look at how life on Distant Space 7 or Sumeria 5 could have been if they'd known about social networking in 1994. Available today for just $19.99, Redshirt gives you the chance to be a crew member who has to live with the challenges of managing not only your job requirements, but also balancing the intricate needs of the many (on the social application Spacebook) against the one (that would be you). Determining which outweighs the other is a constant struggle, and it's not made any easier by the fact that you just might end up parading around on away missions wearing a shirt of the most dangerous color.

Redshirt, an absolutely bonkers look at life in the future, mixes together strategy, interpersonal conflict, Sims-like professional development--and a fair measure of Machiavellian inter-station politics--into a solid bundle of fun that's sure to amuse anyone who's a critic of modern society's habit of sharing, liking, posting, pinning, plussing, and friending so much that they miss the alien about to eat their face.

Chebwa: "so finding the right price, not too high so people will still buy it, and not too low so that the devs don't go bankrupt might be a real science :o)"

I think they might have miscalculated a bit with their science, then... $4.99 probably would have sold 5x the copies.

But then again, I haven't done the math. Hopefully they have.
The thing is, it probably still will, when it gets to that price.
Is this game, worthy of the Redshirt name? Does a character wearing a Redshirt in this game, die every 5 seconds?

Not really, but yes, game is actually based on Redshirt trope.
20 bucks for an unknown indie game? Good luck with that guys lol
the devs have really priced themselves out of the market on this, no love for it here or steam. suppose that's what you get for being greedy
if it was 9.99$, I'd have bought it already.

agree, its worth that but not what its priced at now, its just greed, seen other indie games with a lot more going priced a lot cheaper than this
If they would've released it for 10$, it probably would've sold a lot better, and gotten better reviews too.
I'm watching a Let's Play right now...

Well is the game worth it?
Well, the premise made me chuckle, but the game doesn't appeal to me.

It seems rather basic. click like, post status updates and get people to like you...
I wonder how long a game takes. Can't tell that from a Let's Play.
But the $20 still looks a bit steep :(
Looks interesting but the price is a tad high
Two people posted a 'review' who hadn't even bought and played the game. Sigh
I really thought better of this community. GOG please look at the way 'reviews' are done.

That's odd, I thought you couldn't post a review if you didn't own the game.
