Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the dark and bloody sequel to Prince of Persia: The Sands of TIme, is now available on GOG.com for only $9.99!

Six years passed since the prince first wielded the Dagger of Time. Our hero finds himself haunted by a deadly curse and his only chance of survival lies on an ominous island where the tides of time can be turned and everything that happened can be averted. The quest that lies before the prince demands ruthless action, for in order to defeat the greatest of monsters one has to become a monster oneself. The prince needs to unleash his inner beast to overcome the undead hordes blocking his way.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is more combat-oriented than its predecessor. The game brings new free-form fighting mechanics and an arsenal of fearsome weapons into the mix. The tone of the game is now much darker, mature, and violent. This doesn’t mean that puzzles and platforms are missing--you will still find plenty of them in the non-linear gameworld--but the prince himself becomes more of a fighter than a platform-jumping, puzzle-solving thinker. With Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the series reached maturity and became one of the all time favorites for the action genre fans, while still staying true to its platformer roots.

See the prince in his merciless incarnation, DRM-free and bundled with soundtrack and 74 artworks for only $9.99 now.
The best in trilogy but extremely buggy (If you are playing it for the first time - use at least 2 save slots).

What about tTT? I'm not aware of StarForce free version.

anjohl: Blame God of War's success. Every action game after it drew from it.
PoP WW came out 4 months before God of War.

I'm surprised how often people mention this. Yeah, the level designers made one mistake which results in you being "unable" to return to the big crossing if you take a certain route. It only happened to me on my second playthrough and even then I actually managed to simply jump the huge gap without dying.

But yeah, now that you mention it I also recall a bug that would change your character model too early in the game if you load a savegame at one certain checkpoint - this actually happened to me on my first playthrough and at first I wasn't even sure whether it was a bug or some very weird idea by the designers. I believe I actually had to replay the whole previous chapter to fix it.

Correct. At least all major European releases had Starforce copy protection (oh, what a pain in the ass it was - I remember that Starforce told me to reboot several times and didn't recognize my disc a few times while a friend had no hard time playing his pirated copy by deactivating his DVD-drive and using a disc image).

EC-: all I've heard about this game is that the combat is improved while the dark prince tone is more annoying than the first game.
I totally disagree. Yeah, he is darker as is the whole world, but some people are simply exaggerating. In terms of plot and scenario he remains the same character who he was in the first game, only slightly more mature and let's say, psychologically a little tired after all the events that have taken place between the first two games. As a matter of fact I recall him as being a little more humble now than in the first game - he definitely is not some unnecessarily cool or perverted warrior here as might be suggested by the cover art. :P

Yeah, the buginess is horrible. But playing on newer systems most of the bugs are lifted, since it seems to be caused by Vsync and all.

What pisses me off is the 5 minute long intro you can't fucken skip.

Anyway, wishlisted, I have so many copies of that game, I can take my sweet time buying it

You can. It's been a few years since I had this game installed, but you can delete the two intro movies (.bik files if my memory serves me). The game loads normally but skips the opening completely.

I bought the compilation of Sands of Time, the Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. Only the Warrior Within had copy protection – which didn’t make sense to me.

However, this isn't the only time I've encountered copy protection being removed from retail versions of games. I bought Gothic 3 which had copy protection, and then later bought a compilation of all three Gothics without copy protection.

Same with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I bought a compilation of all the Splinter Cell games, and once again no copy protection on any of them.

Same again with F.E.A.R. My CD-ROM version had copy protection (and probably the DVD-ROM version I bought later), but the compilation, which included the expansion, provided both games without copy protection.

My theory is that publishers know that DRM or copy protection is ultimately going to cause them costly support issues in the future (or disgruntled customers), so they choose to quietly remove the DRM when they re-release games in a compilation.

The irony is that I’ve indirectly been supporting DRM and/or copy protection because I’ve effectively paid for many of these games twice or even thrice. I guess that’s why I won’t buy restricted games anymore. I’m happy to wait for them to reach GOG.

Whoah! When a JEDI WITCHER says it's seven, then it is seven, even if Wikipedia, Encyclopedia Britannica, European Parliament and my mom disagree! ;-)

This game is fairly old by today's standards. 8 years old and all that.

I think some people really underestimate how quickly time flies

Hell, the first Crysis was released 5 years ago

haha yes :D
you can ask ubisoft for confirmation, or play it yourself ;)
Quick question: I'm a huge fan of PoP but I'm not a huge fan of unnecessary blood. Is the blood toggable in Warrior Within?

Yep.
This game was pants.

Nettacki01: They also did that approach for Rayman: Origins. And that one was pretty successful in a slow-burning cult classic way.
avatar
Gersen: Are you sure about that ? Last I heard about it Rayman Origins retail had an online activation.
It doesn't. At least Polish retail doesn't. No activations (I tried with no Internet so there wasn't anything happening behind the scenes), no CD required. No nothing. Less work for GOG in the future ;).
